Models, models, and more models. But ALWAYS "What If" type models!
  1. @Rich: Both links do work. There hopefully shouldn't be any problems. Anyway........here is my almost finished diorama. I say "almost" because I am still waiting for some extra decal sheets to arrive from Anigrand. But anyway, tell me what you think. Hints, tips, suggestions, etc. Anything I should change or move? Should I switch the positions of the aircraft around? And last, but not least: How should this display be presented in a contest? Would it go in the Aircraft Category, the Diorama Category, or somewhere else?
  2. Most stealth aircraft tend to have some markings (Unit, National Insignia, Tail code, etc., etc.) on them for identification, maintenance, or other purposes. But what about aircraft flying at Mach 3 or above, and 75,000 feet and above? Does it even make sense to put markings on hypersonic aircraft traveling that fast? At such high speeds, most markings might tend to "burn off". No sense in incurring higher maintenance costs to keep applying such markings, right? Take for example the supposed Aurora hypersonic spyplane which may or may not exist and is supposed to fly at around Mach 6. Would a
  3. Since nobody is going to reply to this thread, can I please get it locked or deleted? I feel like I wasted my time here. :(
  4. On another site, I have two stealth aircraft dioramas in progress. I don't have the time to re-post everything here as I have to go to work soon, but here are the links: DARPA XST Competition http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,41250.0.html AURORA Top Secret aircraft http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,41251.0.html Tell me what you think. If you read both threads carefully, I have various questions that I need answers and opinions to. Any help is appreciated.
  5. I've been trying to get some opinions on other forums. Rather than re-type everything again, please read Post's 19 and 20 here, then I could use whatever opinions people have. http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,40345.15.html
  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landkreuzer_P._1000_Ratte http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landkreuzer_P._1500_Monster Both the Ratte and the Monster were proposed, but never built by Germany in World War II. But now, 70+ years later, the Ratte has been built..........in a 1/144 scale model by Takom! Hooray! http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10308781 Armor modelers can now rejoice at finally having a scale model of this far out fantastic what if subject! But what about the P1500 Monster? Will there ever be a kit of that? And if not, then how to scratchbuild one? What would it look like? I've already b
  7. I'm sure a lot of you don't want to hear about this, but I figured it needed to be said. For any other modelers in the southeast Wisconsin area, listen up! I just found out at my local model club meeting today that Greenfield News & Hobby is closing sometime in March. :( This is truly sad because Greenfield is the best hobby shop in the Milwaukee area. Plus, now the model club I belong to has to find a new place for our meetings. :( If you want anything at the shop, get it now. http://www.jsonline.com/business/greenfield-news-and-hobby-closing-after-50-years-b99422457z1-288145821.html
  8. Excellent! I know just what to build for Silly Week 2016! Hehehe! ;)
  9. Just submitted another article tonight for Silly Week. Probably not quite as funny as my Food Fight submission though. But you might get a chuckle out of it nonetheless. ;)
  10. Hope everyone was able to read the pic of the Menu sign clearly. If not, I'll paste the text below for you to read. ;)
  11. Glad you liked it. :) I really out did myself with that project. I even got a "Best Use of Creative Modeling" award for it at a contest a year ago. If you think the PBJ bomber lunch diorama is cool, then just wait till I make dessert for next year's Silly Week. ;) Hehehe! Ingrediants for that will be American and German. ;)
  12. I just sent in my Silly Week submission earlier tonight. I hope Steve gets it ok. This is my first time submitting anything. Though I was kinda let down when I got a reply saying it would be posted in 3-4 weeks.........very late after Silly Week is done. :( But if it does get posted, I may have just surpassed Alvis in the craziness factor. Hehehe! ;) I won't say what the subject is. You'll just have to wait and see.
  13. I recently purchased an AMT Star Trek Deep Space Nine station model kit. This model kit is molded all in clear plastic. The scale on the box says that the station is 1/3300 scale. Is this correct? A lot of other sources I've read on the Net say the station model is 1/2500 scale, 1/2800, or thereabouts. I also want to find starships that are the same scale as the station so I can have starships docked at all the arms of the station. But finding compatable scale starships is also becoming a problem. I need help with the scales. I don't know what is correct and what isn't.
  14. 1/35 scale is what I definately want to build. @Finn: I'll stick with a modern wheeled AFV, thank you. Anybody have ideas for building/detailing the interior to look more like a camper? I don't think I've seen any 1/35 accessory sets of stoves, fridges, tables, chairs, etc., etc. to use.
  15. I want to buy a wheeled AFV (Armored Fighting Vehicle) model kit soon, but I'm not sure which one to get. I need one with a good amount of interior space. Either the: Boxer Stryker LAV-25 I realise there's numerous versions of anti-tank, ambulance, recon, NBC, anti-air, etc., etc., etc. for each one. All I want is just the "basic" unit so to speak. Is anybody familiar with the REAL vehicles and can tell me how much interior space the Boxer, Stryker, and the LAV-25 has? From what I have seen on the Net so far, I am temporarily leaning toward getting a Stryker model kit. But whatever I end
