  1. I had not seen that. I've done a lot of google searches for P-51A and even A-36, but those links never came up! I've ordered them, as well as some masks to help offset the postage. Thanks for your help! I'd still like to find the Three Guy's sheet with Slick Chick on it. I built that one years ago and would like to have another crack at it!
  2. I’m looking for decals for 1/48 Mustangs prior to the B/C model. Anything from the P-51, A-36, or P-51A. I know there are some OOP Three Guy’s Replicas sheets out there... Let me know what you’ve got!
  3. You're right, but I do believe they give you the sizes of all the brass bits. A quick trip to the LHS to get some brass sheet will fix it right up!

    News from Vector

So you mean I'll have to wait to build all my early Mustangs?! Rats.... hehehe just kidding. Super excited for some correct wheel wells!
  5. Hey guys! I'm building one of the new Tamiya A6M5/5a kits for someone. As he's paying me, I'm building it exactly as he wants. He specified that he wants me to follow the Tamiya color call outs. Fine by me, I love spraying Tamiya acrylics. The only issue is that I'd rather airbrush the exterior color. So my question is what is the closest match to AS-21 (Dark Green 2 IJN) and AS-2 (Light Gray)? I'm thinking of XF-70 for the green and maybe dark sea gray (XF-54) for the AS-2. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
  6. I too use an ultrasonic cleaner, but usually not for brush cleaning. I say pick one up!!! They are well worth it. I clean watches, glasses, retainers, airbrushes, old paint jars, and paint mixing cups in mine. For modeling applications, I use Simple Green. Be careful though, I've stripped some of the metal plating off my airbrush due to prolonged exposure to Simple Green!
  7. I pretty much use the same technique as Falcon. I spray my cylinders gun metal, paint the heads aluminum, and the push rods gloss black. Here's an example of my two latest engines: This is Tamiya's Corsair And this is Tamiya's P-47M Hope this helps!
  8. Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm trying to find out what type of M2 Brownings were in the top turret of a B-25: Manual charging or electrical charging. I know they fired electronically, but I can't find any pictures ANYWHERE that would indicate the method of charging the guns. For the record, the turret is the Bendix Model A. Thanks so much for the help, guys!
  9. I've built this one in my younger days (about 10 years ago). To be quite honest I thought it was a really good kit. Now, I was less focused on detail then and more worried about the cool bombs, but I had fun building it.
  10. I suspect the plane Tamiya researched was a WWII version with the smooth tread and the retro-fitted flap step. I'd stay away from smooth tread. Think about it, would you want slicks on a wet carrier deck/wet runway? I picked up the True Details wheels for mine and sanded some of the bulge away. They look pretty good to me
  11. There's no need to drat, my friend. In 1/48, the Promodeler kit is just a rebox of the Hasegawa kit. So any aftermarket item for the Hasegawa works for the Promodeler kit!
  12. Hey guys, I'm looking for sheet number 48-628. I've got 48-629, but I need some black P-61s. I've got sort of an interesting kit collection, so let me know if you'd like to partially trade something. Not just limited to planes, I've got cars and motorcycles, too!
  13. Hey guys. I normally build 1/48th aircraft, but my Grandpa has a buddy who flew the Flying Banana in Vietnam. He wants me to build a kit to give this fella, so I've decided on the only 48th scale game in town. I noticed the kit has all sorts of aftermarket bells and whistles, so I was wondering if anyone here has built it, and if so, what do I need to look out for? Thanks a lot guys!
  14. Not minimeca, but this should help you out. http://cs.finescale.com/forums/627593/ShowPost.aspx The tubes can be found here http://www.smallparts.com/ Hope this helps!
  15. Hey guys, bought a 1/48 verlinden willys jeep at blizcon (IPMS Rickenbacker Chapter in Columbus, OH), but the dang thing doesnt have any instructions. Anyone built this kit and can share their instructions with me? thanks!
