  1. Thank you to everyone that has contributed to this post. Phantomologist, Thanks for your appraisal of the photo. As an armour guy that takes an occasional foray into aircraft, I have lots to learn. Thanks for your help. Having established the hard wing requirement, please refer to my other thread re swapping of wings...if anyone wants to build a slatted wing F-4E and has the hard wing version, please drop me a PM and see if we can deal. Thanks. Pete
  2. Thanks Skull Leader. Excellent use of photos to demonstrate. This is pretty much how I figured it but the photo provided earlier in the thread of the F-4E(S) had me confused. I guess I haven't seen many clear photos showing the leading edge flaps deployed: they looked more like I imagined the slats to appear. Do you agree with hatchet's appraisal of the F-4E(s) in the photo being a hard wing? It is not possible to see the underside of the wing so the presence of actuators cannot be determined. Pumpkin, I'll try and post a photo later tonight but there isn't much to the conversion. It is sim
  3. Hi OKB, Yes, good questions. Hopefully someone will chime in with the answers. Hi Kevin, Leading flaps as opposed to slats? I am showing my ignorance of aircraft design but are you able to explain the difference, and provide the context for the hard versus slatted wing of the F-4's? Much appreciated. Pete
  4. Hi mungo1974, So are you saying that the original nose is not accurate or that the revised nose is more detailed or more accurate? Hi hatchett, Thanks. Great photo! I would have said looking at it that it had slotted stabs and slatted wing, but I am no expert. The photo looks like the leading slats are deployed. Do hard winged F-4's have leading edge slats? Hi OKB Krasnaya Zvezda, Good questions. Do you have answers or are you just asking? I hadn't thought about the cockpit yet but I would be guessing some sort of hybrid between F-4E and RF-4? What other external differences are you refer
  5. I have acquired an Hasegawa F-4E in a trade that included the Paragon conversion (#4889) for the F-4E(S) and a set of CE decals for IAF Phantoms. According to the CE data sheet, the F-4E(S) have unslatted wings and slotted stabilators. As I have absolutely no info on these IAF aircraft and the CE sheet was printed in 1995, I am looking to confirm the accuracy of the configurations as noted. Has any new, more accurate info come to light in the past 10 years or do I need to find myself another set of hard wings to build this aircraft? I'd be grateful for any info on the F-4E(S) and IAF Phanto
  6. I have been unable to track down one of the Promodeler F-4E with the hard wing and all of my Hasegawa F-4E's have the slatted wing. I would like to build a Vietnam era aircraft and need the unslatted wings, so..... If anyone out there wants to build a later F-4E with the slatted wing and is interested in swapping wings please drop me a line. I would propose each party pays own postage but this is still cheaper than buying another kit.... Failing this, if anyone can suggest an online retailer that is still selling the Promod F-4E at a reasonable price, let me know. Thanks. Pete
  7. With the pending release of Episode 3 I am in the midst of a massive Star Wars revival and have dragged out the old AMT Millenium Falcon. After doing some research I have discovered the many failings of this kit and the many aftermarket sets that have been produced to fix it! Unfortunately, none of these seem to be in production at this time. So, with Fine Molds announcing a 1/72 Falcon I am wondering if anyone who has the Falcon Kits details sets put aside might be willing to sell them to me? I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has any aftermarket products available for the Fa
