SU-27 and SU-27UB are nearly same in production. Earliest model of SU-27 had vertical stabilizer (VS) with anti-flutter booms and later were anti-flutter booms removed. In sparka to compensate for the added side area ahead of the CG the fins were lengthened by inserting 420 mm plug at the root. This increased the area of each fin by 20%. I think, in that time the 162924 used the TARPS pod only for missions, but the LANTIRN was still on the plane. It was over in Afghanistan. The main question is the PTID and the B upgrade. Where all the upgrades installed at the same time, or continuously?Furthermore, where the upgrades installed continuously on one machine at a time, or was the whole squadron updated at once? OK, f.e. BuNo 162924 AG114 from VF-143. Originally made like A+/B for VF-74. Was in the DS campaign. Later transferred to VF-143. I saw a video from the ‘00 cruise, where AG114 IKE had no LANTIRN pod. I didn’t see a RIO cockpit, nor a TARPS pod. A few machines in this video had LANTIRN pod, but not the AG114. I think, in this cruise the AG114 was still the classic B model with fishbowl. But in the ‘02 cruise on the JFK in Afghanistan, I saw the AG114 with TARPS pod also with LANTIRN. Hi, Does anybody know, when B Tomcats did their conversion to upgrades? I mean if every machine in the squadron was in B upgrade mod and when it was. I believe VF-32 has had their B upgrade to all the machines from the start to the end, so it seems. For the VF-143 I’m not sure when the machines hat been converted to B upgrade … in 2000?/2001?/2002? all machines were upgraded?... it looks like in ‘01 some machines had upgrades, some not, but maybe ‘03 were all machines in upgrade.
