Eduard 672053 :: 10,5cm deck gun :: improper scale

Recommended Posts

Eduard Brassin released two 1/72 deck guns for German Submarines in November 2014:

* 672053 German Submarine 10,5cm gun 1/72 (for Type IX boats)

* 672034 German Submarine 8,8cm gun 1/72 (for Type VII boats)

With respect to the 10,5cm gun (Eduard 672053):

Through research, measurement & calculations... we have found that the Eduard 10,5cm gun is badly out of scale (over 22% too big). :(

It's a crying shame, too, because it was very nicely detailed.

We submitted a comprehensive report to Eduard about this issue, including comparative dimensions, historical photos, etc. that support our findings.

We strongly suspect that the source plan used by Eduard is out of scale.

I just received word today that Eduard-Brassin is re-releasing their 672053 deck gun 10,5cm (1/72).

The originally released gun was overscale, but apparently it has been retooled to correct the issues.

Eduard support is asking anyone who had purchased the original version, to contact them for a replacement.

Good customer service. When I first read this, I thought it was going to be a repeat of an earlier issue with one of their aircraft kits. I'm pleased to hear otherwise.
