  1. UPDATE: broke down and bought myself the Testors Mighty Mini airbrush set. So far, not bad, except the airbrush nozzle broke so I'm only getting maybe 50% of the original force. However, receiving an airbrush has raised a question: what are the perfect ratios of acrylic paint to thinner? I've heard 3:1 and "to the consistency of whole milk", but neither of those really help. Also, should I use thinner or water? Some advise thinner, but others recommend water. It's really starting to confuse me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated soon.
  2. Thank you all for the informative feedback. Thankfully, I have a cheap model waiting for me to test all that advice on. Be on the lookout for my first submission (which'll incorporate the help found here). Thanks! -Alexander P.S. And Ken? Don't worry, the ointment takes care of that right away.
  3. Ah, alright. I was limited to using CA and it wouldn't really work. Also, it would leave this white powdery residue which looked as though the material was "burnt" and was incredibly hard to remove when I think I applied a little too much in order to ensure a bond. If I get that "burning" again, what should I do? (And should I use that Testor's Liquid Cement for the main body, wings, well, everything but ordinance and cockpit?) -Alexander
  4. Before I am blasted for the (hopefully not too apparent) idiocy of my question, I feel it is necessary to point out that I am only starting to be a "professional" model builder. As such, please, take it easy on me. My question is a two-parter: What parts of the model should I paint first and how do I attach already painted pieces (such as armaments) to the painted model (if of course I should paint things seperately in the first place)? The directions on most of the instruction sheets say to scrape off the paint prior to gluing, but with certain objects such as missiles or cockpit assemblies
