ESzczesniak
This is the Great Wall Hobby 1/48 F-15C Eagle of the 104th FW. Pictures of the 104th birds show them all very clean...not my style so much. I like at least a bit of wear if it can be justified. So I tried to weathering the aircraft in the midrange for that of an Eagle. It's dirty for a 104th FW aircraft, but reasonable for an F-15C in service. Thanks for looking. Comments and criticism welcome.
gonzalo
Very nice eagle!
B2Blain
Wow! Good job. What brand of paint did you use? Thanks, Blain
balls47
Nice job. Most ANG units keep their airplanes pretty pristine.
SERNAK
Nice work though I do want to ask you one thing. Was the darker grey paint so distinctive on the actual aircraft?
ESzczesniak
Thank you all for the comments. Regarding the two questions... 1. I used Vallejo. The gray was straight 71.050 (can't remember the name) +/- white or black for shading. The blue/gray was a "Sea Gray" (opposite, can't remember the number) lightened with almost 50% white and with a drop or two of blue added. I did a lot of shading, so I had a mix written down (9:6:1, Sea gray:white:blue), but didn't stress too much about different batches of paint. 2. I had a hard time judging the contrast between colors myself. The 104th FW birds seemed to have a pretty stark contrast between the light gray and blue gray. So I went with this. However, I don't know if this contrast might be related to how clean those birds are, as I definitely found pictures from other units with much less contrast. An example of a 104th FW bird from airliners.net (link, as I think that's the only way I can do it safely for copyright): http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Air/McDonnell-Douglas-F-15C/2124313/L/&sid=23ba5fc9d6918626038969bd3817edb8 Edited October 6, 2015 by ESzczesniak
B-ONE27
Wow, that's a beautiful eagle, great job all around, I gotta get my hands on one of these GWH kits at a reasonable price!

gb_madcat_sl
That's a great build! Love the paint job. Did you do anything to address the overly thick aileron and flap trailing edges? Mark
Falconxlvi
Great looking Eagle! I really like how you took the fins off of the AIM-120 CATM. For what it's worth, the light housing on the left vertical stab should be clear - it's just a position light. Fantastic build!
EagleAviation
Nice build. Very smooth finish on the paintscheme. I would prefer however some more contrast and shine on the metal parts at the rear fuselage. Well done!
ShawnV.
Good job. Love the paint contrast.
Brad-M
That looks real nice. I know what you mean about weathering, I can't build them clean either. I have one of these and plan on an Oregon ANG bird, but am a little intimidated by the kit. How was the build? All the best Brad
Nathant
Awesome work! I've been meaning to get this kit. I think you nailed the colors. I see lots of wrong colors used in this scheme.
