Ben Brown
Welsh Saab 340 and Sasquatch Dash-8 with homemade livery decals and Draw Decals doors & windows on the Saab. I'm debating weather or not it would be worth the trouble to cut out discs of clear plastic for the props. I'm leaning toward putting the antennae on them and calling them done. What do you folks think? Thanks in advance for the opinions! Ben EDIT: D'oh! I just noticed I'm missing the ventral fins on the Saab! EDIT 2: Calling 'em done. Both are pretty rough (as in not my best work) and not really worth the time to cut out and fit prop discs. I promise I'll do a better job on my Fox One Saab! :D BB Edited February 26, 2015 by Ben Brown
tobiK
Your jets looks nice! No plastic discs needed...you do not see plastik discs on real plane too!
Kingoalie
Those turned out nice!
TheFlyingDutchman
Maybe some PropBlur PE propellers will look nice on them!!
Cubs2jets
Just need a Jetstream 31 to round out the trifecta! C2j
Jennings
Nice! I'd dispense with the disks. I've never seen them look like anything but plastic disks :)
Ben Brown
Thanks for the comments! I went with no prop discs. They look better that way. Ben
Commander Botha
Hi Ben, Very nice models. Here's a 1/144 scale P3-C I built for a friend that flew this aircraft. It's not overly clear, but the Prop-Blur is worth the effort(actually very easy to use). I built it to show long range patrol configuration with number 1 and 4 shut down, and feathered. Cheers, Jarrod
Ben Brown
That's a very nice-looking model, Jarrod! I may consider Prop Blur if I build another in-flight prop. Ben
skidbuggy
Just need a Jetstream 31 to round out the trifecta! C2j Don't forget Brockway flew the B1900 for Piedmont back in the day as well before switching over to the Saabs as Metro Airlines Northeast. Great build, Ben I'm getting back into my Welsh commuter builds as well. Edited February 27, 2015 by skidbuggy
majortomski
Prop blur's look great in that scale.

Great build, Ben I'm getting back into my Welsh commuter builds as well. Thanks! I've made decals for the Brockway 1900C. I only have one of Don Schmenk's kits, and I'm going back & forth between the Brockway/Piedmont or a Great Lakes/Midway plane. I've suggested to F-RSIN that they do a 1900 series, since they seem to be on a commuter roll, lately. Ben
757flyer
And Britt flew Metroliners in PI colors. And then there are the CC Air and Henson Shortses, as well as the Henson Dash-7s and Beech 99s, the aforementioned Junkstreams, er, I mean Jetstreams, the Fokker F-27s, and there were even CASA 212s... And after the purchase by USAir, but before the merger, some of the Dash-8s and Jetstreams got maroon colors. Mike
skidbuggy
I drew the Brockway logo if you need it. I've yet to draw cheat lines though to make a true Brockway green and yellow commuter.
Ben Brown
Thanks! The Brockway logos on the Saab and 1900C models were small enough that I was able to get good results with a jpg I found online. Same for the Britt logo on the Metro II. Speaking of Metro IIs, here is F-RSIN's excellent new Screamin' Weenie in Britt/Piedmont colors (not quite finished). I used my own livery decals, painted the fuselage stripe, and doors & windows from one of Draw Decals' Metro sheets. The 3 windshield sections are about 1.5mm too tall, but can easily be fixed to work on this kit. I think I might need to trim them down a little more. My original plan was to mount it on a base, since it's tail-heavy, but the landing gear looks so clunky, I think I'm going to go back and pose it in flight. The gear and prop blades really mess up the airplane's clean lines. I'm eventually going to do all of the types Mike has listed in Piedmont colors. The only one that hasn't been done in 1/144 is the Casa. I remember seeing a maroon Dash-8 coming into Kinston NC back in the late 80s. They were all in the blue-tail USAir colors by the time I got on with them. Cheers! Ben Edited February 28, 2015 by Ben Brown
Ben Brown
Much better! Sorry for the crappy photo. I managed to destroy the Britt air logo forward of the door, so I'll have to print another one. Taking a break from Piedmont now to finish a couple of F-RSIN Brasilias in Midway Connection and USAir Express colors. I think my next Piedmont project may be Authentic Airliners' F.28-4000. Beautiful kit! Ben
757flyer
Love the Piedmont stuff Ben!! Great work. Thanks for the info on the DRAW Metro windows and their fit vs the F-RSIN kit. They were originally done for the Contrails kit. Need to maybe adjust them and/or provide a separate windscreen for the F-RSIN kit with each set... Mike

They were originally done for the Contrails kit. Need to maybe adjust them and/or provide a separate windscreen for the F-RSIN kit with each set... Mike Thanks! I had the Contrails III for a short time. I think the F-RSIN kit is better, shape-wise, and can be converted to a III fairly easily. They may even release a III someday, since all they'd have to change on their kit are the wings, nacelle fronts, and props. The top of the windscreen on mine needs to be trimmed a tiny bit more, then the angles of the two side windscreen panels need to be adjusted, since they line up with the top corners of the side windows and the top corners of the center section, if that makes any sense. I also had to cut a small wedge out of the forward end of the side windows. Otherwise, they angle downward slightly when you lay the decal onto the model. Sorry I don't have any in-progress photos to make that more clear. Cheers! Ben
