Time for the next project!

After finishing the gigantious Arrdvark I thought I´d go with a small and nimble kit like the Eagle :P/>

Seriously, after dealing with the vark this kit feels tiny!

It´s the venerable Hasegawa F-15C that ended up on my table....I´m still in the market for the GWH Eagle, That´ll be a nice OOB build someday.

This however isn´t OOB...more on that later.

IMG_1504_zps935c2c93.jpg

Of course the box contained lots of parts on 12(!) sprues..

IMG_1505_zps21b847b7.jpg

IMG_1506_zpsb3147163.jpg

I´m not sure I get the rear can sprues.....why so many? and why is there a ring on each and only 2 petals?

IMG_1507_zps65f29a37.jpg

A PE fret and the decals...

IMG_1508_zps13874006.jpg

ANd since this isn´t an OOB build I need AM stuff....like a Aires cockpit, Aires cans and a delicious decal sheet from Two bobs with Bitburg eagles :D/>

IMG_1509_zps59d0da75.jpg

I´m not sure on wich to build but it´won´t be a MSIP II bird anyways but a good old early C :D/>

I guess that´s the end of the presentation :D/>

Let´s dig in, in part 2

Part 2

I´ve been accused on occasion to be a fast builder...we that may be true :P

The reason I think is the prep work I do before I get started....you know my forrest of parts on the plastic foam

First I start with cleaning the resin from casting blocks and flash. I usually do this with The Dremel but on occasion it does need a recharge...and that´s when it gets manual!

IMG_1510_zps9b98eb77.jpg

I´ve often been asked how I fasten the parts on tooth picks....it´s very simple, I drill a hole..

IMG_1511_zps76b24921.jpg

And stick a toothpick into the hole...no glue necessary, just drill far enough for the tooth pick to squeese stuck.

IMG_1512_zps6e9663ea.jpg

I drilled out the barrels for the Vulcan....looks a wee bit nicer.

IMG_1515_zpsf05ae55b.jpg

And cut the ailerons out.

IMG_1516_zpseb7d529f.jpg

There we have it....everything cleaned and impaled. What´s missing is the missiles but I´ll get them from a Gawa Missile set...oh and the phantom c enterline gasbag.

IMG_1517_zps4fddb074.jpg

Next there´ll be priming :D

Cheers!

Funny! I have this kit in my stash with the exact same AM...Aires early cockpit, Aires exhausts and the 2bobs BT decals.

I'll be interested to see how it all goes together!

I'm also interested in a GWH F-15C.

Well I hope :P

Nice; I've been eyeballing this kit for awhile!

Will be interesting to follow your build.

Is the GWH kit suppose to be better than this one?

Sure go ahead, six :D

I'm very curious about the gwh kit....haven't compared the two but the gawa is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth.

I started a thread with a poll of what was the best 1/48th scale F-15C kit and the Hasegawa kit, by far, got the most votes.

Have you determined the loadout yet?

That's SOME saw! :woot.gif:/> Ya still got all yer fingers? B)/>

LoL, I thought the razor saw was to slow work so I used a regular saw.....and I managed to nick my finger wih it :P

Don't think many have landed a gwh kit in their stash yet.

The usual missile load a mix of winders and sparrows.

Can't wait to see how you do with this build Aigore. I had quite a bit of frustration with mine, but I am finally on to painting so hopefully that's all behind me.

I'll keep watching!

Mike

Hehehe, you´re welcome to Mike :D/>

What was the reson for the frustration...any heads up?

I checked out your build.....great work, Mike and now I know what to look out for :D

Here´s a sad little excuse for an update :P

Mostly sanding and little progress to show for it.

I used The Dremel to cut out the kit IP-shroud and side consoles.

IMG_1518_zps53aa0f1b.jpg

Then I filled those pesky seams in the wings with CA...

IMG_1519_zps0b27f38a.jpg

Sanded smooth and primed...

IMG_1529_zps014da673.jpg

And got to work on the intakes....

Very stupid placement for pegs and holes....

IMG_1526_zps6d909edc.jpg

The Dremel took care of them...

IMG_1527_zps23359a3e.jpg

Then some putty, I´ve restocked on Squadron white and green putty....kinda like the stuff.

IMG_1528_zpsb50c35dc.jpg

Some sanding later...

IMG_1530_zpsde9515ea.jpg

Finally primed in alclad white...

IMG_1531_zps7636f8d2.jpg

That´s all I have for you...no need to go fast on this build :D

Cheers!

Let's hope the Carpet Monster appreciates your sacrifice!

I cut my finger on some cardboard boxes at IKEA last week. And it was even kinda modelling related, as the boxes are intended to hold the cleaned sprues of the kits that were drowned in the cellar flooding.

What I'll be more curious to view is the Revell A319 that a certain someone gave you that you have not yet completed.

Janne, you never cease to amaze us. Quite honestly if you didnt do a fast build we might think something was wrong with you.......lol! Great pick on a new subject, love the eagle, cant wait 2 see her all dressed up ready for prom.....er, I mean battle!!!!!!!!

This man's on fire!

Great choice of subject, Sir. And I see you're ready for any tree felling that might be required during the build! NOW...you know what I'm going to say, dontcha?!...

PLEASE.

WATCH.

OUT.

FOR:

PUR dust.

I shudder every time I hear about a Dremel (or 'manly' saws!) being used for de-blocking resin bits. This stuff can turn your lungs into pin-cushions. Even if you wear a filter mask, the particles will remain around your work area to catch up with you later.

Lecture over -keep up the fine work!

Thanx Jeremy :D

LOL..well everything´s relative, ask a redneck :P

Still loads of things to dio Before the...em prom...

Thanx Chippy :D

That´s why I´ve come up with a technique where I´m holding a vacumcleaner hose between my knees and the nozzle pointing up.....then I try to dremel the resin without it being sucked into the vaccuum...or any other parts :P

A few more steps on the way..

Glued the trunks together and sealed off the rear with tape....

IMG_1533_zpsaa0695d1.jpg

Then I started pouring latex paint into them...

IMG_1535_zps17266615.jpg

Topped off...

IMG_1538_zpsd51b3ca1.jpg

And then I dumped the paint by removing the tape...and this is what I got after two rounds of pur and dump :D

IMG_1539_zpsc807f195.jpg

Just to still my curiosity I dry fitted the pit in the forward fuselage.....Like a glove! :D

IMG_1540_zpsba9857ec.jpg

Started glueing in PE parts into the pit.....

IMG_1541_zpsda494f54.jpg

IMG_1542_zps609eff4e.jpg

and the bang seat....one of the PE straps made a "ping" -sound when I helt it in my tweesers...and it was no more so I made areplacement from tape.

IMG_1544_zps42fb3f06.jpg

There... soon I´ll get round to priming :D

Cheers!
