After a very long period I'm back with a new painting, hope you enjoy it :) On 26. Juni 1941. a hungarian passenger train under way from Tiszaborkut to Bilin was attacked by three soviet I-16 figters. This illustration was made for a study about the affair. I started with a pencil sketch then I finished it digital. The train and the locomotive was a newness for me but biggest challenge was the deadline, I had just a few hours more than one day from comission to the final version. Fortunately I got a lot of reference materials about the location and the train cars.

Corel Painter is not the same as Corel PhotoPaint, the Corel club is really small, but it doesn't affect the quality :)

These Profiles were comissioned for a book about the hungarian fast bomber squadrons in ww2. It was great to do it, the Z094 was my granfather's plane. There is a detail pic about his "office" too

Great job Ugo! Two tiny things I found: the sun reflection on the canpoy looks like the sun is shining from behind, but the dropshadows seems to coming from the front. The second issue is the shadow on the gear, if I follow the line it does not fit to the wing. Anyway it looks perfect :)

Hi Stephane, I use Corel Painter and a Wacom Intuos3 tablet. I've got 4GB ram it is great if I'm working on larger pictures. I used a photo's contours for getting fast the right perspective, but with completely other lights and conditions. Here you can see the developing process:

After doing more digital aviation paintings I wanted to try it with natural media too. The first try was more a honor than a job... The Hungarian Aeronautic Authority contacted me to paint a picture for one of the greatest hungarian pilots Pal Kovacs's 70th birthday. Pal flew 18.000hours and won more aerobatics titles earlier. Hope he will like the picture <_< The Li-2 is the russian version of Dc-3. This plane (HA-LIX) is called Karman Todor / Theodore von Karman after the Hungarian-American engineer and physicist who was active primarily in the fields of aeronautics and astronautics.

Great job! And for the fist try really awesome. The prop is perfect.

Thank you! Ooops, I closed the refueling door. On all the photos I've seen as reference it was open, sure all of these inflight photos were taken from the tanker :D Some other details are changed too.
