KursadA
CD72044 will be a sheet dedicated to military users of the Dornier Do-228, intended for the Revell kit. Markings for Germany, Italian Army, Thai Navy, Indian Navy/ Air Force, possibly Finnish Border Guards and Dutch Kustwacht (Coast Guard), and Nigeria if I can find out more about the camouflage scheme. Sometime in early 2016.

ChernayaAkula
Awesome! Please do the Finnish Border Guards scheme. Always wanted to build that one!
skyhawk174
I think I still have this kit in my stash. Nice to see some new military marking will be released. Looking forward to the profiles.
Hoops
When you're talking about Germany, do you mean the pollution control birds out of MFG3? Hoops
pollie
Nooooo...another must have. I used to buy decals to go with my kits but lately it is the other way round
KursadA
When you're talking about Germany, do you mean the pollution control birds out of MFG3? Hoops I think the pollution control scheme has been recently done by Revell, I had a plain Marineflieger example in mind. It all depends on how much space I will have on the sheet, though. I will collect your feedback here when I start putting the design together later this month.
niki4703
Your operators' list is pretty full it seems, but maybe there is space on the sheet for the Seychelles :) http://www.seychellesnewsagency.com/articles/1245/Seychelles+maritime+security+forces'+skills+strengthened+as+EUCAP+Nestor+wraps+up+tailored+training+courses Photo free for use as per copyright notes
Kingoalie
Awesome news! I've got one in my stash ready for some German decals, preferably the 3-tone camp scheme.
KursadA
I presume the radome must be improvised through scratch am I correct? Luis, this was just a representative photo I've pulled from the research file to give a general idea. I have many photos of Indian Do-228 without the radome, and will choose the actual options on the sheet to minimize kit modification & scratchbuilding. That said; I am usually not afraid of including a particularly attractive option even if requires a limited amount of scratchbuilding. For example; some of the options I am considering (Dutch Coast Guard, etc.) are often seen with the Terma SLAR antenna which will require some modification to the kit. Shorty84
Nice!! Maybe you would think about a decal option for Niger? Edited November 2, 2015 by Shorty84
troschi
What about Germany's Alfred Wegener Institute's Aircraft used for antarctic expeditions? http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FLccdlmZFms/VQ85lRk2tkI/AAAAAAAAKNA/HobQLJupres/s1600/MG_Do-228-101_Alfred-Wegener-Institut%2BAWI_Polar%2B4_D-CICE_19.09.14_FDH_5752.JPG
KursadA
Some early drafts - this project is on track for an early 2016 release, with many colorful options.
KursadA
Just finished the design last night - a final round of geometry/color checks, and it will be off to printing. The options are: - 2 x Indian Navy (one overall gray, one in the older white/blue scheme) - 1 x Indian Air Force - 1 x Finnish Border Guards (Rajavartiolaitos) (*) - 1 x Dutch Coast Guard (Kustwacht) - 1 x Italian Army - 1 x Thai Navy Very limited (250) run, probably no possibility of a reprint. Likely to be the only military Do-228 sheet you might ever see. I just like this plane. There was no space left for a German option - sorry. I think pretty much every boxing of this kit came with decent German decals by Revell. (*): This is quite a mouthful for a law enforcement organization. I wonder if there is a short form of this, sort of like FBI officers are called "Feds". Perhaps they are called "Rajs" or "Rajas"? Just wondering ;-) Edited December 22, 2015 by KursadA
Trojan Thunder
Awesome! Please do the Finnish Border Guards scheme. Always wanted to build that one! Yes, Yes, Yes !!!!! worldslaziestbusker
Just finished the design last night - a final round of geometry/color checks How do decal makers like yourself figure out the geometry? Hurts my brain trying to think three dimensions down to two.
KursadA
Here is the final draft of this sheet, part of the February batch:
KursadA
This sheet is ready, and I will enable preorders in a few minutes. Only 250 available. Yet another subject that is not likely to be done by anyone else - I basically made this sheet because I really like the airplane. If this does well, there will be a few other sheets for military operators of civilian twins, such as Twin Otter and Islander/Defender. Aren't you releasing a sheet for the Twin Otter soon?
KursadA
The Do-228 sheet is sold out. Thanks for your interest in quirky subjects such as this one - I enjoy doing these once in a while. The Piaggio Avanti and Twin Otter sheets are coming soon, and I hope you will like those as well. And if you missed it, don't fret - someone else is surely bound to do a military Do-228 sheet in the next two decades or so. ;-)
