Everywhere I look online says that "Tamiya Polishing Compound" is out of stock in CONUS, so what is the next best thing, that is sold and available in the US?. I've even looked on the Tamiya USA website. Anyone got any ideas. I've seen the results of the Tamiya compound in the In-Progress and Display forums and it's amazing, and you can get by without the future dipping step. I've tried in the past some off the shelf polishes from Wal mart and they come up short, I was hoping to try Tamiya, but that option seems to be slim. Ordering from Overseas is not an option as the shipping would be as much as the product itself. Is it's availability a part of the labeling fiasco that occurred a few years ago?, or is it just that good that it's gone before it's on the shelf to too long?.

Another option is to head to an automotive store/Walmart, and see if any of the Meguiar's plastic polish products are available. They come in a variety of grits and cleaners. Just make sure you wash off the oils with Windex or other cleaning agent appropriate for plastic before trying to mask or paint it. What are you wanting to polish and to what level?

Yessir, I'll ditto both suggestions thus far. I have Novus for clear and painted surfaces on my bench. I have also used Meguiar car wax and both work fine. Just make sure that you get it polished out well. Good Luck!!!

Meguiers works really well. I have a 2010 Camaro from Revell that I polished the paint and clear cote with, and can see the reflection of my camera(and me taking the picture) on the car body. Just be careful that you don't rub too hard as you will remove the paint. It has an extremely fine abrasive in it. If I can get my camera back from my brother, I can take some pics to show you how well it works.

Try ordering it online from eBay. Got mine from oversees in less Han a week. Stuff works really good.

I purchased my set of three from eBay as well. Give it a try.

I use NuFinish car polish. Stuff is amazing. Polishing paint or clear plastic. And it contains no harmful ammonia for paints. I've used 1800 grit papaer followed up with NuFinish with a microfiber cloth for great results. As close as your local autoparts store. This is a quick polish of Krylon over primer using NuFinish. No sanding prior.20140929_173912_zpst0jf52qj.jpg
