  1. That looks very nice! What colors did you use for the engines and belly? Did you have to mix them yourself?
  2. Thanks, everyone. glad you like it.
  3. I built this for a GB over at FSM. The kit was Hasegawa's 1/72 F/A-18C backdated with the 'A' parts. It went together well. I added grab handles and rear-view mirrors to the canopy and have pitot tubes from an old F-15 PE set. I also added some wire and styrene bits to the bang seat, but it's so tight in there that you can't see it. It's only about 99% done in these pics. After I took these I put 2 antennae and the pitot tubes on and added a CATM-9 and a TACTS pod. The lightest gray is Mr. Color enamel, the other camo colors are Tamiya acrylics. The exhaust is a mixture of Alclad and Testo
  4. Yeah, that's what I had read. Actually, I think it was in a thread here at ARC that it came up. Since I'm going to build it OOB, it doesn't matter to me, I just can't decide on the scheme, they all are pretty interesting.
  5. I just got this kit: http://www.eduard.cz/products/pdf/n11/1149.pdf http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/modules.php?...ent&id=5292 http://arcair.com/Rev4/3201-3300/rev3262-E...2-Moore/00.shtm I need your opinions on which paint scheme to use. The first link shows all the schemes provided. The box art does look pretty cool, but I read that it can't be accurately completed from the parts in the box. I am not sure how much that really matters to me, but it is a factor. Incidentally the box art was not what drew me in to the kit, the resin parts are to blame for that... they look great! I am l
  6. This one, along with most of my other builds, is in a holding pattern. I tried to do some airbrushing last night only to realize that my compressor had stopped working. I spent an hour taking it apart and found a small piece of the motor (a brush or magnet or something) had chipped off and caused a bunch of other collateral damage. It was cool to see the inner workings of a compressor, even though it puts a damper on all my painting until I get a new one. Oh well... I can still glue, so I will probably be getting everything glued together that I can and getting that stufff ready for paint. I'
  7. I used Future mixed with a few drops of yellow food coloring, mixed in a plastic film cannister. I just dipped the canopy into the mix and wicked the excess off with a paper towel. Let it dry in a sealed container and that's the result. Turned out pretty good I guess.
  8. OK, I'm late as usual on the updates, but don't worry, there ain't much to see anyway. The cockpit is right OOB with only some drybrushing. The canopy has been tinted yellow with Future+food coloring. It's good enough for me. I have the engine modified... I just cut most of it off and glued it in place well enough to show the nozzle on the outside. Since it is all buttoned up, you can't see anything, so I though, "why bother with the details"? Enough babble...on to the pics.
  9. Wow, that's a ton of work. I made an attempt to start on mine last year, but that was short lived. The sheer number of bubbles and pinholes on the dang thing nearly scared me off for good. What are your plans for the cockpit and windows? I've considered vac-forming a new piece since the "clear" resin is so atrocious. I'll be watching this one for updates.
  10. Yeah the kit comes with everything molded as it would be ready for VTOL flight. I'm in the process of buttoning it all up. Last night I was able to get the various hatches glued on and looking OK. I also went ahead and cut up the nozzle like Thorsten did. It really was not as hard as I thought it would be. It does not all go back together exactly like I thought, but I can make it work. The main thing I'm focusing on in this build is the paint. I have the gold tint on the canopy drying now so I'll see if it needs another coat later. I will probably get the landing gear bays painted tonight. a
  11. Danke fuer den Link. Ich habe viele Arbeit voraus, nicht wahr? Did you cut the halves of the nozzle into 3 pieces before you glued it all together? Looks like it may be easier to glue the kit parts together, then cut that assembly into thirds when wsitching the nozzle around.
  12. Well, I've started my entry into this GB. I have Revell Germany's 1/72 X-35B that I'm going to paint in a scheme similar to Hyperstealth's Digital Thunder pattern http://www.hyperstealth.com/Mig29/index.html . So Far I've been able to get the cockpit done. My next step will be to get the other innards completed to get ready to put the fuselage together. I think I will do a little surgery on this one too; the B model has the STOVL exhaust molded in the "down" position with all the doors opened. I'm going to close them and cut up the nozzle to put it in the normal configuration. I'll try to
  13. Thanks for the welcome... I've been lurking around here for a little while now. Anyway, probably won't get started on this until after the new year, maybe this coming weeking I can get moving, but we'll see...
  14. Well I'm brand new here and I'll be in with a 1/72 RoG X-35 in digital camo and Marines markings.
