rightwinger26
what colors I need to purchase. I'm gonna go with black, red, and gold Seriously, great to have another entry!! Sometimes subs can be harder than capital ships!
john53
Off to a slow start. This kit seems to fit pretty good. I opened up the holes for the diving planes, put the forward plane on then glued hull halves together. It has been a while since I have done a nuclear sub so I am jogging my memory as to what to assemble before I mask and paint.---John
rightwinger26
Looking good so far! I would think you can attach everything but the tiny parts like the periscope, or the prop, that way you can take care of all the seams.
john53
It is starting to look like something now. I added the sail and two vertical fins. I also built the stand, most useful while building.---John Edited July 9, 2015 by john53
john53
Cleats on and I have sanded the hull seam. I need to fill a few voids in the seam. sand it again then mask and paint lower hull red before I add more parts.---John Edited July 11, 2015 by john53
john53
Masked and painted bottom hull Tamiya TS-39, Mica Red in the rattle can. Now to let it set up then mask upper hull for the semi gloss black.---John Edited August 12, 2015 by john53
rightwinger26
Excellent work so far, can't wait to see more!
john53
Thanks, work is slow but steady. I just put on 6 tiny parts, with tweezers and opti visor, on the rear upper hull, look like cleats. I dropped one and had to vacuum the rug, luckily it was in the vacuum. I also added a "blade" to the forward upper hull on the "nose". Now all I have to do is add the rear diving planes and I can mask and paint the upper hull semi gloss black.---John
john53
I was trying to figure how to spray the top hull and stand it up to dry. I figured if I painted the stand and glued it on then I could mask the bottom and stand and that would hold the sub up to dry. I also have the rear fins and PE hatches on the sail. Once it is all set up I can mask and paint.---John

Sebastijan
I am not sure if I'll be able to build it for this GB as Cole and the training at work take away all my free time... I might start it in the last month of the GB - after all, subs are quite quick builds.
