  1. I just recently found out through posts on this forum that the CanMilAir line is back through Above and Below Graphics. I checked out their website and was very happy to see the amount of content, old and new that was available. I've been trying to go their website for the past week to place an order but their site doesn't seem to exist anymore. Have they closed up shop already?
  2. Thank you very much Helmsman.
  3. Hi, Does anyone have experience air brushing Tamiya's X-22 clear over AKAN's 70000 series paints? X-22 is my normal go to for my clear coats but I have never used it over AKAN paints before. This would be my first time. I just don't want to ruin a beautiful AKAN paint job due to incompatibility issues with X-22. Thanks
  4. Hello In the past, after putting down my base coat, if I had different paint layers to spray I would cover the base paint with a light coat of Future/Pledge to protect the base coat during handling and masking for the other layers. Never had any issues doing this with Future/Pledge and it helped protect my base coat nicely. I recently started using X-22 for my pre-decal coat and I really prefer the finish I get with X-22 over the finish I get with Future. But I have not yet used it between multiple layers. Has anyone used X-22 to protect a base coat then
  5. Has anyone who uses white glue to secure lead weights have them come loose over time?
  6. In my experiments so far, stand-alone X-22 at 50% MT seems to spray a very nice clear coat for me. Now I'm going to try the Micro Sol/Set technique and see how if I can be more successful in the decal stage. Thanks for all the help. That was a fantastic step-by-step topic by Chuck!
  7. Decals were from Leading Edge which I've never had any issues with before. The whole model was airbrushed with X-22, not just over the decals. I do have another model ready for decals and has a nice smooth coat of X-22 or what feels like a nice smooth coat of X-22. It definitely feels way smoother that my attempts with Pledge/Future. I will use MicroSol for this one and see if that solves the problem. I really do like the smoothness of X-22. I did get some Tamiya sponges and will give those a try as well. Do you use them wet or dry?
  8. Happy New Year to all... So here's an update with X-22. I wish it was a more positive one. After hand-brushing two coats of Pledge/Future over a flat coat of white, I proceeded to decals. (This was before I read about X-22.) The surface after the 2 coats of brushed on future wasn't ultra super smooth but I figured it was smooth enough. The paint was white so if any silvering occurred I wouldn't see it anyway. Leading Edge decals went on nicely using Pledge as my settler. From all appearances after a few days, none of the decals had silvered although it was really
  9. What make of foam pads do you use Joel?
  10. Model is a 48 scale Kiowa. I think I may try Joel’s method of clear coating the underside, then when dry finishing the sides and top. I thinned it the same way Joel did; 1:1 with Tamiya’s lacquer thinner. Came out glossy, very smooth and dried very quickly.
  11. I recently read on this forum about how some of you have switched over to Tamiya's X-22 Gloss and have since done some experimenting with it and I must say that I now prefer it to my Pledge/future. Couple of questions. Has anybody experienced any compatibility issues airbrushing X-22 over a model that has already been airbrushed with Pledge/future. I have a few ready for decals but have given them a coat of future already and would like to switch to X-22 before I decal. Secondly, I have an aircraft that has just undergone a tricky paint job, but now I tryin
  12. Lol... I will stop searching. Thanks
  13. Does anyone know if Hobby Craft ever made a Dash 8 in 48 scale? I searched online for any references but can only find 72 scale information yet the ARC gallery shows a 48 scale CC-142 built by Phantom.
  14. While we're on this topic, does Future/Pledge ever go bad in the bottle? If so, how long is it's shelf life?
  15. Follow up question. Do Micro Set and Micro Sol used together assist in preventing silvering or do they simply set the decals?
