ChesshireCat
I found a 1/35th Nast boat kit!!!! It's not exactly like the one used in Vietnam, but still very similar. The kit comes with torpedo tubes (4). Has the same wheel house and the rest is very similar. Looks like it has the 20mm and maybe the 40mm guns, but don't think it has the 50 caliber / 81mm mortar combo gun. gary

ChesshireCat
Gary, would you be so kind as to share further details on this kit. Who makes it and where can it be obtained? It's out of Finland. Looks right except for the 4 torpedo tubes. Scale is 1/35th and I think it's all plastic. If the hull and wheel house are right the rest is not that hard to do. Found the add under Tjeld-Klass MTB Boat on the internet. P.M. me with your email adress, and I'll send you pics out of the add gary

jeffryfontaine
There is a 1:72nd scale Tjeld/Nasty Class PT Boat hull now available from a company located in Gibraltar. Link to image of the1:72nd scale Tjeld/Nasty Class hull on Flickr plus other boat hulls that are available from this company The price of the 1:72nd scale Tjeld/Nasty hull according to the eMail I received from the owner is £30 plus £10 for shipping (currency symbol £= Pounds). Additional information can be found at this link to "Escort," the IPMS-UK Small Warship SIG periodical. The owner also states that he can produce a 1:35th scale Tjeld/Nasty Class hull if there is enough of a demand for such an item so if you are interested in a larger scale Tjeld/Nasty Class hull you should contact this company to state your interest and willingness to purchase be be aware it will not be cheap Contact information is provided in the link to "Escort" from the IPMS-UK Small Warship SIG. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Link to BabyDuck5's 1:35th scale Nasty Class PTF project with some WIP images: Check out my Nasty...my PTF Nasty that is! ***edit to bury dead emoticons Edited June 21, 2014 by jeffryfontaine

babyduck5
Hey Gary, I, too, love the PTF Nasty class. I modified an old Lindburg 1/35 hull to "closely" resemble the PTF hull. I'm trying to complete this within my lifetime ;)/> Take Care, Jim URL=http://s241.photobucket.com/user/babyduck5/media/IMG_20472_zps801b13f8.jpg.html]

jeffryfontaine
For anyone interested in building the Nasty Class PTF you can now purchase some very nice 20mm Oerlikon guns on Mk 10 mounts from Shapeways. I recently purchased a couple of these and I am quite pleased with the details as it means I no longer need to consider scratch building the mounts. Link to Shapeways main page if you wish to do your own browsing Link to the 20mm Oerlikon on Mk 10 Mount (set of two) This model is also availabe as a single item purchase and in a several other scales. To accompany the 20mm Oerlikon models above there are also some rather nice ammunition lockers available in several scales as open or closed units from another maker at Shapeways. Link to 1-35 Oerlikon US Navy Ammo Locker with open top Link to 1-35 Oerlikon US Navy Ammo Locker with closed top The maker has stated that he will be making spare 20mm Oerlikon magazines available soon for use with the ammunition lockers that have the open lids. The 81mm Mortar with M2 Browning HBMG mounted on top is available by special request from John Geigle at J&S Hobbies from his Masterpiece Models 1:35th scale PCF Swift Boat Mk 1 kit. Mind you the parts are not cheap but it beats making it yourself and it does include the ammunition locker that was associated with this weapon so that is something else to consider.
