MPi-KM
Is there an approximate out-of-the-bottle match for Air Canada blue?
martin_sam_2000
Is there an approximate out-of-the-bottle match for Air Canada blue? The only one I know of is from Xtracolour form England, which is almost impossible to get over here in N.A. Most retailers will not ship the paint overseas any more. Here is a shot of a A319 I took a few years ago and a model I made using the Xtracolour AC Blue The lighting in the above pictures are very different, so they don't really show an accurate colour comparison, but in person it is a very close match. The actual colour is a light "mint" blue with a slight metallic flake to it. You could try adding just a VERY small drop of blue in some white paint and eyeball it... MPi-KM
Just a heads up, I found an online retailer in Poland (Martrola Model Shop) that has it in stock and will ship overseas. I just placed an order so hopefully customs wont deny it? Edited July 24, 2015 by MPi-KM

It's funny..I was looking for KLM blue and found the same shop right after I posted last time in this thread. placed an order and it is currently In Canada, past customs and on its way to my door. A little pricey, but no other way I can see to get any. If it works I am going to most likely buy a few other colours just to have them on hand. Sean

MPi-KM
What brand of enamel thinner did you use with the Xtracolor?
Lancer512
What brand of enamel thinner did you use with the Xtracolor? Revell's ColorMix thinner is my choice for XtraColors (even better than the Xtra Thinners), and I'ld guess ModelMaster thinner would work, too.
Tackleberry
I know it's an oldish thread and I'm not the most active poster but I've just seen this thread and I've got this rattle can of what I think is a close match to Air Canada blue...Not sure if you can get it in America or not but here in England you can, but saying that I can't remember where I bought it from either...Montana Black "ice blue" Edited May 18, 2016 by Tackleberry
V1 Decals
Greg at Draw decal actually shares a neat technique for airbrush users that suggests replicating Air Canada's “Ice Blue” paint using white pearl nail polish with a few drops of blue paint added to achieve the correct shade.
