Exercise Indradhanush Mk2

Recommended Posts

Gents,

It was two weeks ago today that the Indian Air Force Su-30s arrived at RAF Coningsby for this years joint IAF/RAF exercise. For those of us watching it's been frustrating, with two weeks of pretty poor weather, and although I had some luck late last week with a trip onto the apron for a close look I couldn't help think I still hadn't got some real good stuff yet. In particular, the departure end where they turn right by the fence on the South Side seemed to be a magnet for cloudy conditions every time they flew. Today was departure day so one last three hour drive up to the field in the hope that with the best weather forecast of the deployment I would get them as they taxied out for departure back to India, with the first leg to Greece and Athens today followed by Saudi Arabia. We finally got lucky as 'Astra 2 to 5' taxied out from South side late morning and thankfully caught the light.

The same C-17 that brought the kit in a fortnight before was also back again...thankfully in better light.

A few from the locals who were also busy. This 41 Sqn GR4 went out with a couple of inert Enhanced Paveway II's.

Which were missing when he came back from the ranges.

Then after normal flying had finished this years display pilot put in a practise display over the field.
