Jennings
Been wanting to be able to take a pic like this for years! Finally got a lens that will let me do it. Believe it or not, this was hand held (braced against the door frame), 400mm, 1/200 sec, f.11, ISO
mlicari
Great pic! It sure was bright last night. Turned the lights off in our bedroom and the room was still lit up! I'm also always struck by the crater in the lower center. That impact must have been tremendous...you can see the streaks leading in all directions from the crater stretching a great distance. FM-Whip
Been wanting to be able to take a pic like this for years! Finally got a lens that will let me do it. Believe it or not, this was hand held (braced against the door frame), 400mm, 1/200 sec, f.11, ISO 200 That's a fake - obviously done using papier-mache and plaster. Even in 1969 they did a better fake moon than that. Nice try... John Hairell (tpn18@yahoo.com)
Ishthe47guy
Nice capture, man. I wanted to try and get that exact image last night too, but it was my birthday, and my friends took me out and introduced me to Korean soju...
Ben Brown
Nice! That night was also perfect for watching the ISS to fly over. Something like 6 minutes in NC. Ben
Moose135
Well done, Jennings. I was doing the same the night before. Shoot enough air shows, and hand-holding a 400mm gets easier.
Jennings
You definitely build up some biceps and shoulder muscles! :)
Rex
We looked up and talked about the Blue Moon that night, but, we didn't have any camera to get a good shot with. I am glad you got such a professional shot of it, that way the image is saved somewhere. Nice shot, Jennings.

Jennings
Nice Moose! What kind of lens is that shot with??
rightwinger26
I wasn't able to get a shot of the blue moon, but this is one I took a few months ago, piggybacked on my telescope. I just ordered a t-ring and adapter, so the first target when they get here will be Saturn. Bill Edited August 5, 2015 by rightwinger26
Moose135
It was with the Canon 100-400mm on a 5D3.

rightwinger26
Celestron omni xlt120
Jennings
Celestron omni xlt120 I've pondered buying that very scope. Seems like a good starter telescope at a pretty decent price.
rightwinger26
I highly recommend it, it's my first real scope me I couldn't be happier. I recently invested in a 7mm eyepiece, and can see Saturns rings and weather bands, clear as a bell. Looking at Jupiter and the four major moons amazing.
