BillS
I just got that 72 scale C-54. it's the total balls and can't wait to build it. One of the markings options in bare metal has international orange or day-glo trim. The plans say the airplane depicted is c.1951. Would that trim be orange or day-glo? I thought day-glo came along more mid fiftyish. I really go for that bare metal/white solar cap scheme and would be even more stoked if it had the black raccoon mask around the windscreen. Can't find any piccys on the net either.
Jennings
If it's got orange trim it's not from 1951. The USAF started using day-glow in around 1959, and it was pretty much gone by 1965. If it's the one they've been showing on the box, it's late '50s or early '60s, and it's fluorescent (day-glow) trim. The USAF didn't use International Orange back then.
