Query on Yellow Wings Decals

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This is my first post to your forum, and I'm sorry to say that I come here in search of information and help.

I recently completed an old kit, a Hasegawa F4B-4. Going into the build, I realized that the decals were unusable and planned on using upgraded markings from this website:

Yellow Wings Decals

However, I waited until last week to order them and have run into some unexpected headaches.

- The transaction was completed on the company website a week ago, and was confirmed by Yellow Wings and Paypal.

- A week passed, I never received any shipping information from Yellow Wings, so yesterday I attempted to contact YW using the contact info in the confirmation email.

- The email address in the confirmation email generated an error message from my ISP, essentially stating that the post was undeliverable to the address in question.

- I attempted to call the telephone number in the confirmation email, but got a recording stating that YW was unavailable. I left a message, but never heard back from YW.

- This was actually my third transaction with Yellow Wings, and I've never had any problems with the company in the past.

So, there's my story. I need the decals, but what I've experienced has me wondering if Yellow Wings is still in existence. If not, I guess that I can seek a refund from Paypal. I'm also somewhat concerned as to the possibility that the website in the link at the top of my post may have been hacked or something. I simply don't know. I'm posting this here, because I'm sure that some of you gentlemen must have done business with Yellow Wings in the past.

Any information that you can provide will be DEEPLY appreciated.

Moe,

Your problem is easy, assuming that you paid with PayPal as you said. The easiest way that I have been able to get response from anyone that I have paid through PayPal with is to go back through PayPal if I have a problem. PayPal will listen to you even if you are having problems just contacting the vendor or business. They will provide a dialog path so that you can communicate with whomever. I promise the whoever will go out of their way to get your problem solved before you elevate a transaction to a claim. Because once PayPal has elevated your transaction to a claim, the vendor only has a short time to "make you happy" or PayPal will refund your money. I know you are probably like me and are wanting the decals rather than the money, but at least it will get some sort of action going. I hope this helps!

Best Regards,

It's been a week since you ordered the decals, if I understand you correctly? YW Decals is, essentially a one man operation. It's possible the man is on vacation, or he's got work or health issues. I don't think you've waited an excessive period of time for either a response or your product. You say you've dealt with him in the past and had no issues, but you're not willing to wait a little longer now and give him the benefit of the doubt?

If I'm not characterizing your issue correctly, please forgive me, but I think airing this issue here was not necessarily the correct thing to do.

Hi Ken,

Yesterday, after initiating this thread, I received a robo-call in response to the voicemail that I left at the number cited from the purchase confirmation email. It was some sort of solicitation prompting me to take advantage of an exciting offer. I hung up.

Then I dug up an old email addy for YW, a gmail account, and attempted contact over yet a third channel. No response by late afternoon. Then, I contacted Paypal, which opened a dispute and escalated it to a claim.

Wayne contacted me at 11:28 PM yesterday via yet a third email address, this one @att.com. He indicated that he had received no email or phone call from me, and that he had shipped the decals on Monday, 10-27.

In a return email, I explained that the YW confirmation email contains erroneous contact info, and offered to forward it to him for examination. Wayne indicated that the phone number was old and should have been disconnected. He expressed no interest in my forwarding the confirmation email or in the details that it contained.

For posterity's sake, and in summary, there were really four problems in play here, the first three related to the YW purchase confirmation email:

-a bad contact email address

-a bad contact phone number

-a claim that a shipping confirmation would be sent when the order was put in the post (none was ever received)

-the only way to get in contact with YW was for me to open a vendor dispute with Paypal.

In wrapping this up, I'd note that I didn't post this "query" to the BAD TRADERS forum, as I simply had no idea what was going on. Left in a vacuum as I was, I started looking for answers and came here. I understand that MANY of the accessory outfits are very small, and that delays can and do occur. I also acknowledge that a whole lot of old models would be all but worthless without updated decals, as the Hasegawa decals are too yellowed and brittle for use. Wayne's decals are wonderful and I applaud him for the effort. If I erred in this situation, it was in not locating the decals before I started the model. As for YW, I'd hope that he'd take my comments to heart, update his contact information and make himself more accessible to his buyers. As I mentioned, Wayne indicated that he's mailed my decals and I have no reason to believe that's not the case.

Thanks for your help and suggestions, :)
