Diego
Dear ARCers, The legendary F-86 Sabre,is well konwn in its livery typical for the 1950s, the natural metal finish (NMF) The Sabres used in many european countires flew in the then standard NATO camouflage, mid grey & dark green with PRU blue undersurfaces. A fact unknown to most Sabre enthousiasts is that the legendary North American fighter also wore the Asia Minor desert scheme (with sand, brown and dark green uppersurfaces) th eSouth East Asia scheme developped during the USAF involvement in the Vietnam War, as well as some even more exotic camouflages. Based on recently surfaced, previously unavailable data, the newest, forthcoming Hi-Decal sheets will cover 4 exotic and colorful aircraft: * 3-133, F-86F-25 (with F-40 slatted wing), Imperial Iranian Air force (IIAF) / UN - in NMF - deployed to Kamina AB, Kongo, as part of the UN Fighter Wing during the Katanga crisis and very active in early 1963, * 3-141, F-86F-25 (with F-40 slatted wing), Imperial Iranian Air force (IIAF) - with Asia Minor scheme in 1969. * 275, F-86F-25 (with F-40 slatted wing), Imperial Ethiopian Air Force (IEAF) - former Iranian Air Force Sabre with Asia MInor scheme, transferred to the IEAF in late 1970 and used in the COIN role during the Eritrean rebellion in the early 1070s * "Dragon", F-86F-30 (with F-40 slatted wing) Philippine Air Force - wearing a highly attractive "tiger" sand & green camo scheme, and used in the COIN role against maoist separatists during 1974. The new decal sheets, HD72064 in 1/72nd scale and HD48034 in 1/48th scale, are scheduled for release during September. Thanks for reading! mungo1974
Sounds good, how many years will we have to wait for it? Still waiting 3 years later for the long promised phantom decals.
ChernayaAkula
Niiiiiice! Always wanted to do one of the Ethiopian Sabres, but never found proper roundels for 'em. So glad you're doing these! Planning to do other Sabres as well? South American ones? The Aztec sheet has been OOP for so long now...

DonSS3
Comments about "I'm waiting for "x" why are you releasing "y?"" Are why many guys won't make prior announcements. Diego may have seen the market change, or research may have started taking longer than planned, or he may have just like lost interest for the moment. IMHO we should be thanking him for what he HAS come up with instead of griping about something else not related to this discussion.

So far we have one post stating he's gonna do XYZ Sabre option's same as we got for Phantom's years ago. Thankfully Caracal and Speed Hunter are now filling the Phantom gap Diego left. I'm sorry but if he'd posted profiles or artwork saying this is what I'm doing, their at the printers now then maybe I'd be more positive. Until then anything I read about Hi-Decal is just vapourware. Just my opinion at the end of the day...agree or disagree I'm not bothered. Gary Edited February 22, 2014 by mungo1974

On the other hand, when a manufacturer announces they are going to produce a certain subject, other manufacturers tend to move on to other subjects for fear of over-saturating the market with that subject. When the original manufacturer never acts on that announcement, those subjects never get printed. This is why these guys are posting their disappointment and I agree with them. Corey in Colorado I for one, am ready and able to support whichever decal publisher prints some DC and NJ Guard F-4 decals... :) Edited February 22, 2014 by Corey
DonSS3
Yes, for what he HAS released. Diego has released other decal sheets. At this point it may be vapor-ware, but is the time when he's announcing a new product the time to be chastening him about something else? I see this, IMHO all to often when new products are announced by anyone. "Hey we're releasing the Farley Fruitbat Mk.IV in December..." "Well, why aren't you doing a Scruggs Wonderplane instead?" "Oh jeez a Mark IV, why couldn't you have done a Mk.V?" That sort of thing. To me that's not constructive at all. I'm not trying to start a fight with anyone or get in a urinating contest, it's just my warped sense of the way things ought to be, I guess.
mungo1974
Well Don, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Everybody has the right to voice a opinion the above is mine. Cheers, Gary

I'm with Don on this one, I was barely aware of Hi-decals before this thread, & wow, they've got quite a bit of stuff I fancy. A heap of outfits don't come up with stuff they've been promising for ages, thats the real world, get used to it, heck, how long have I been waiting on a Valom Bristol Bombay, it'll either turn up or it won't. I won't be any the worse off, but I won't be bitching about it like some do. Its not like I've committed cash to it or some such & there'll be a reason why it isn't arriving that is perfectly valid for Valom, likewise Diego & his decals, I don't 'spose he is exactly a multi national corporation with endless resources & we'd all be poorer if he picked up his toys & took a hike. Cut the guy some slack I reckon. Steve.

scotthldr
Hi Azor, The F-86 decals are sheduled to go to the printer end of the next week :rolleyes:/> The EAF / NJ Phantoms project was a bit delayed, as some important data were still needed for the NJ bird, but, as we just got them, the project can be now finalized :woot.gif:/> Greetings Diego What about the Hellenic RF/F-4E decals?
