1/48 T-38A decals

Recommended Posts

Now that the release of Wolfpack Design's excellent new 1/48 T-38A kit is imminent, I am revising the T-38A artwork I already had and will send them to be printed soon. I will have two 1/48 T-38A sheets covering a very wide variety of Talon schemes. One of the sheets will cover current USAF schemes; including pretty much all of the current companion trainers(Beale,Whiteman,Holloman etc.) and DACT birds(Tyndall,Langley) and a few Shamu trainers. The second sheet will be a two-page affair covering many older USAF schemes and international users.

Where did you see that wolfpack is doing a T-2? I see no mention of it on their site.

Korean company Wolfpack Design (http://www.wolfpack-d.com/) has announced a brand new 1/72th kit of the North American T-2C Buckeye - http://www.wolfpack-d.com/htm/kit.html

Hi V.P.

If you're information is correct then, that's really good news BUT, I always try not to get too excited because we had examples in the past from other companies (one actually), who have announced for the specific aircraft in 1/48, the production of the aircraft's ejection seats and if I'm correct, two more detail sets BUT, still no production samples, only photos.

On the other hand, Wolfpack is planning to produce an F-5A in 1/72, which has been long waited by many fellow modellers and for quite a few years since the ESCI and Italeri kits are rather hard to find.

Let's hope for the best.

The wolfpack F-5A has been out for a while, it is a re-pop of the old and excellent ESCI/Italeri kit with new decals.

Even so, it is a nice surprise to all of those (including me!) who don't have enough space for the Kinetic F-5A (1/48). On their website they state that the kit will have 100 parts. The ESCI kit had probably 45 to 50 tops!! This means that they didn't simply reproduced the Esci-Italeri kit but, have added additional detail. Maybe in the form of external weapon loads and/or, an etched cockpit.

Anyhow, it's in my Christmas list !!!

I have been delaying the T-38 sheets to see what the decal sheet in the Wolfpack kit would look like. It looks like it was the right decision since there is some overlap. I will change the layout and subject selection slightly, and send these to be printed in the next 10-15 days or so. As I mentioned earlier, there will be two T-38A sheets; one with recent USAF T-38A markings and another one with older USAF & foreign options.

No, this was a very early post before I finalized the plans for the two T-38 sheets I eventually released. The Wolfpack kit decal sheet had markings for Beale aircraft, so I ended up not including this option.

This is a three-year old thread, folks - I do not have any plans for another T-38 sheet in the near future.
