KursadA
I would like to do a couple of BAe Hawk sheets - there are new kits in the market in 1/48 and 1/72 scale, and I feel the excellent 1/32 scale Revell and Kinetic deserve newer decals. What has not been done yet - any operators/schemes that you want to see?
skyhawk174
Kursad Great idea. There was a sheet available in 1/48 of Foreign Hawks put out by Model Alliance Decals but they are no longer in production since the company folded. Some very nice ones on that sheet that may be nice to reprint as I am sure not many of us were able to get that sheet ( I was able to get it). In 1/32nd it would be great to see Saudi Hawks and some of the African air forces schemes.
Jabba29
They also did a sheet in 1/72.
Youngtiger1
I don't know what sq it was but they painted giant dragon on two of their jet. Giant = entire length of the jet. It was totally cool. Oh and some ETPS colors
Hoops
Model Alliance did do a sheet of International Hawks quite a while ago, but it wasn't very accurate, and the colors were definitely off. Xtradecal has done a really good job of covering RAF/RAN subjects, but there has not been much out there for other operators. A few off the top of my head that look really good: UAE Oman South Africa Finland South Korea I'll look into my references tonight and see what else I come up with. This is an idea that's near to my heart in 1/72. I was frustrated by the lack of, or inaccuracy of, the options out there and had resolved myself to trying to ALPS print the markings that I wanted. I'll see how I can help, Hoops
Paolo Maglio
Well, I just finished Kinetic Hawk 127 in RAAF markings and found several mistakes: most of the decals are printed in the wrong colour (dark gray istead of light gray and vice versa) many other stencils are missing as well all the stencils for the landing gears (and there are a lot of them!) so a correction set is badly needed and you can also go for the new glossy scheme that is more interesting. For the classic shorter Hawk I can help with several walkrounds of RAF black ones :-) Edited December 10, 2015 by Paolo Maglio
Johnopfor
Australia, Finland, South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Zimbabwe, Kenya... A few off the top of my head that look really good: UAE Oman South Africa Finland South Korea Hoops Saudi Arabia India Bahrain Canada
Lex
Switzerland used to fly the Hawk aswell.
janman
I really do like the classic green/black/grey camo on our (Finnish) Hawks, but for them I already have some decals. Now I'm not sure whether there exists markings for the ex-Swiss Hawks with bright red/white livery. Okay, it's mainly just a paint thing without any special markings, but still. 82Whitey51
Well, ya know I'm going to go right for the display teams... Can't think of any Saudi Hawks Team decals: Then of course there is the Red Arrows...I know the Italeri kits have some nice Cartograph printed decals in them but if you have the earlier release you may want the "50th Anniveray" tail, or vice versa and then there is the current iteration with the flowing Union Jack. An idea may be that you provide just the tail markings and then the modeler can use the kit decals for the remainder. Then there was the Year 2000 scheme, more representative of their earlier look;
Flyboyf18
Well, ya know I'm going to go right for the display teams... Can't think of any Saudi Hawks Team decals: There was/is a Fujimi kit with the Saudi decals, but am guessing rare as 72nd Antonov 226s!!!
KursadA
Thanks all - these are great ideas; and I will start the research work soon. I have long wanted to do a Saudi Hawks decal sheet, but don't know if there would be enough demand for a dedicated sheet if I choose to do the wing markings as decals. I will look into providing them as masks - which should allow me to fit them on an international Hawk sheet with other options. The Indian aerobatics team (Surya Kiran) has also recently transitioned to the Hawk, and they have a pretty nice scheme as well.
skyhawk174
Kursad looks like you may have enough for 2 sheets, one for demo teams and one for the regular military markings. Loved the Finnish green/black scheme and as far as I know only Fujimi had it in their wonderful 1/72nd kit.
Jabba29
I don't know what sq it was but they painted giant dragon on two of their jet. Giant = entire length of the jet. It was totally cool. Oh and some ETPS colors :rolleyes:/> That was the RAF St Athan Station Flight and a decal sheet in the 3 major scales has been done by Euro Decals.
KursadA
Kursad looks like you may have enough for 2 sheets, one for demo teams and one for the regular military markings. Agreed - I will probably start with a combined sheet with Saudi Hawks & Kirya Suran (Indian AF) markings and we will move from there. Emvar
One day I hope the Snowbirds choose the Hawk....
Colin K
As RCAF markings for the CT-155 Hawk are now hard to find in 48th scale, options for that aircraft would be greatly appreciated!
Litvyak
RCAF, SAAF and Zim... How about
KursadA
Wow, that RAF Hawk is awesome. Has it been done in decal form before, though? I would be very surprised if it has not. No modern Hawk sheet will be complete without RCAF markings, so you will get some Cartograf printed ones on my sheets. But please contact your representatives and ask for some special schemes; it's about time. The RAF seemingly does at least a couple in a slow week ;-)
Litvyak
Just looked it up... yeah, Xtradecal has done XX246 in that scheme.
scotthldr
Don't think the 208 Sqn 100 years jet has been done? https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8788/16893480567_f959d6247c_b.jpg

I think Xtradecals did it in 1/72 as part of their RAF 2015 update sheet, but not in 1/48?
skyhawk174
One day I hope the Snowbirds choose the Hawk.... I saw one done up just like that. It was at some model show and to be honest I forget which one now. Should have saved it, it looked awesome. A couple of years ago I was able to pick up a Snowbirds sheet (obviously for the Tutor) for the express purpose of using it on an Airfix Hawk kit. I know that one has issues but just wanted to do the scheme. I have correction sets to fix another Airfix kit.

The RAF seemingly does at least a couple in a slow week ;-) Sadly, our Hawks are leased, so I don't see any special schemes coming up for those.....although, that Lancaster schemed RAF Hawk would be cool for 419 Squadron!
