PC12Driver
Hey Gang, Does anybody have a 1/35 Dragon floor-mounted M-60 that they are not using? I am attempting to "retrovert" my -1D HEER to a VN-era -1D Slick. I'm thinking about pulling the M93 minigun out of my UH-1N since I'm converting IT to an Anafaake (since Dragon screwed the pooch with that re-issue. Why did they take out all the the PE detail? Does anyone know?) I am checking with Gino (or anybody) who can verify that the Army may actually had the electric guns in any of their -1D's in the later years. (I am wanting to sell this and I need some back-up that the M93 was indeed in the Army's inventory.) In the meantime - does anybody have an M-60? I will trade the minigun for it. Thanks, Kevin

Thanks, Kevin Kevin, The XM-93 system was used by the Air FIrce on their UH-1Ps and UH-1N's as well as VNAF UH-1D/Hs. The US Army never fielded the M93, however, there were a few UH-1D/Hs in Vietnam fitted with the M134 minigun. Most often these were UH-1D/H "Nighthawk" bird used for night time perimeter patrols. Ray 83 Thanks Ray - much appreciated! Do you think that Joe Modeler (like me, for instance) could or would appreciate the nuance? And I'm speaking of "cool gun" vs "wrong model"? In the little research I did, I did learn that the M93's were fielded by the services you mentioned (USAF - USMC) but I thought I saw a small reference to the Army. It must have been the M134 as you said. Thanks again, Kevin
HeavyArty
Joe already answered on the M93, the US Army didn't field them. By M60 floor mount, are you talking about the M23 Door Mount M60? If no one has one, Cobra Company has a set of them in resin. Ray The XM-93 seemed to be pretty common on very late war (74-75) South Vietnamese slicks. Somewhere on this forum there are some pretty cool pics of a SVN H-model Huey with the minigun and 7-shot rocket pods.

I think I know what you mean by the M23 door mount - and maybe that's what I'm referring to. Cutting to the chase . . I have a Dragon HEER that I'm trying to sell and want to to equip it to resemble a -1D slick in VN. (Not around Teutonic castles in the Rhineland, if you catch my meaning.) I'm supplying Joe's decals but I need door gun(s). The HEER kit did not come equipped with door guns - much less M60D's. I was trying to keep it simple by yanking the miniguns out of the USMC -1N that I'm going to turn into an IDF/IAF Anafa (since Dragon went on the cheap and left out the detail kits on a new re-release!) But if I couldn't sell the story that "yes, miniguns appeared on Cav -1D's" then I would have an unhappy buyer. I looked through Chris' stuff yesterday and completely glossed-over the (X)M23 set. (I saw the Quad M-60's and knew that wasn't it!). But now after seeing it - that's the ticket for what I need (correct?). I knew that you would have the answer! I sent a mx to your other email address so you can disregard it if you see it. Thank you kind sir! Kevin Farrell

The simplest solution is to spend the $$ on Chris' XM23 resin door kit..There's never a way to do these things without spending more money than budgeted! Keep the economy rolling! I think I'll apply for a gov't job! Much obliged! Kevin
