Strizhi

Disapointing programme... The right most wingman was lagging all the time and they had a very shortned display as well... I guess technical error must have been one of the causes...

F-15C

to me, the display was nothing special... it needed a lot of space to gain altitude and speed... take off however, is impressive

MiG-29K

Newest version of this naval fighter for Indian carriers... Similar display to MiG-35

One of the highlights of Friday was the performance of Russian Falcons - a group of 4 Flankers that showed some precission formation flying and then 2v2 dogifght with loosers being flamed out of skies...

Fantastic shots, Sebastijan! :D Please DO post more!

The pic Zmey and Jan "chose" is really awesome.

I'm kinda partial to this one. That blueish hue of Flanker engines looks really, really cool!

Is the canopy fake painted on the nosebelly? I actually got fooled

It obviously is. And you're not the only one who got fooled! :)

Thus the false canopies CAN work!

Thus the false canopies CAN work!

Only if they paint false intakes on the top! :)

But I was also fooled - first time round.

  • 3 weeks later...

Tuesday was the opening day for this year's MAKS. Due to the fact Russian president Putin opened the salon, security measures were extremely tight and lots of us missed the first part of the show and had to watch it from the queue lines, including Ilyushin formation, Tupolev formation along with MiG-29K and OVT escort, Su-34 demo,...

Also the first day the lightning was very bad because of humid atmosphere and burning earth a few kilometers away from the airfield, which produced a brownish tint to the skies... Conditions that proved bad for the photographers... also due to the opening day, there was not a lot of flying display....

However here are some pics from the first day:

Strizhi and Russian Knights performed together - a magnificent view and excellent alltogether display...

Novator KS-172 uber long range AAM. No more info is available on that beast.

;)

I asked the Sukhoi 'minder' on the Su-35 about it - via Piotr Butowski........

I asked about its status, was it in production? etc.

He grinned and said something like - 'What you see is what there is' ;)
