As i had some white left in the airbrush, i decided to paint the upper and undersurfaces of the wings,
where i intend to paint the large yellow triangles. That's to avoid the nasty surprises i had with yellow applied over darker surfaces. |

First coat on; I used humbrol 121 as usual on IDF/AF planes.
The yellow triangles are hidden behind the paper tape mask. I found it very difficult to draw, cut and apply the damned four paper triangles. Now i appreciate even more Antoine's work on his Kfir. |

When will this madness stop?
At this point Eduard, you can't avoid building next another kfir, this time a true C1 without fences. And then, maybe a tsniut? Sounds like a never ending story! Pardon me if I've missed something, but is this one italeri's, or haseg's? And about the weapons pylons, did you work them out only using pics, or some drawings? I've thought about it during my own build, but as I didn't found any drawing, I've decided to use only TER. And also, congrats on your article on scale aircraft modelling from July 2008. I've ordered it to have a look at the alicat build, and then, seeing the name of the author, I thought it sounded familiar to me. Good to see you teaming up with Tom. |

OMG, how many Kfirs?? They are all absolutely stunning!! One question though, do the humbrol colours turn out to be the correct shades as when i have looked at them in my local shop, they looked too dark??

Thank you for the kind words Antoine!
The kit is Italeri. The missile pylons are the original from the kit; The rails were filed a little to make them pointy, the belly rack was cut in two and enlarged with a bit of styrene sheet. The wing root bomb pylons were made out of styrene sheet . The positioning, shape and size approximated from some pictures I took in the Hatzerim Museum and some found in the fantastic kfir book from Isradecal. The book has some 1/72 drawings, none unfortunately shows the pylons. I think i made them a little "pointier" but i can easily fix that. Hopefully i will continue the work, a C1 without canards is in plan, so is a FAE C2. Right now i'll have to take a break, for a more important model, the "mini me" : |

The Humbrol 119, 120 and 121 are generally accepted as "zee" ones. Hu 122 duck egg , good for undersides of Phantoms, Kfirs and Skyhawks is no longer available. A "daddy" of IDF modelling, Yoav Efrati, once told me that Hu 23 is a good match for that blue. I'll use it.
For the grays, i have to admit I'd rather use the Model Master Light and Dark ghost grays than Humbrol's 127/128 . |
