Ishthe47guy
Saw the Pimpmaster AW's pics for the upcoming 1/35th MH-47 conversion set. From the pics that I saw, it looks real good. Hope the pics help you rotorheads out there.
Ishthe47guy
I will re-post the next two pics after I get the time to adjust the brightness/contrast to make the detail stand out a little more:

Ishthe47guy
Glad I could help. As Chief Swanberg & Flem might be able to confirm, Task Force can be sensitive to having their aircraft photographed in-sutu. Kind of depends on whose around. The maint. troops I've worked with over there don't seem to mind, but then if I'm helping them out on the aircraft, why would they? When the senior NCOs' are around, the camera goes away. The first two pics are of a rebuild after a C-5/C-17 tear down & transport, while the rest are of a different aircraft after a C-17 teardown, & they are just waiting for the Air Force to show up so they can load the aircraft on the, um.. aircraft. Ish, defense contractor & loving it!
Bulldog 09
Those are some great shots Ish. Got any more? They will definitely get used when I start back up on my ROG MH-47, just after I finish up Apache. Dave Fassett
11bee
Ish, Thanks so much for taking the time to post those pix. That second aircraft is by far the most beat up helicopter I've ever seen. Was it just being rotated out of the area or did it have some sort of mechanical issue? I'm going to save these and use them as references for weathering. As others have noted, the MH-47 has to be the baddest a** helicopter out there. As a last observation, I've never seen those ballistic plates inside the pilot's side windows. Would you know if they are specific to MH's or are they also installed in the regular CH-47's? My next project is going to be an OH-58D, are there any of those in Afganistan? I thought I read that they were not in theater due to lack of power at the high altitudes encountered there. If I am wrong and you happen to have any pix of them, please feel free to post away B) Regards, John
Ishthe47guy
Glad you guys are finding the pics useful for modeling endeavors. Those are all I have for right now. I keep my camera handy while at work to get whatever shots I can. Bee, it was being rotated out. The ballistic plates are installed on the regular CH-47Ds, but the plates on the D's have a window panel of armored glass. I'll see if I can find a picture in my files. I do have a good amount of OH-58D pics. I'll post them within a day or two. I have to sort through them & add then to my P-bucket account. Ish
Rick in Maine
Never thought I'd say this about a rotor-floater...but that's awesome! I see another sale of this kit. Thanks for posting the photos. Rick in Maine
