haneto
Mi-24P "Afghanistan Veteran" Converted from Hobbyboss Hind-D The new kit from Hobbyboss, the scaled down version of Trumpeter 1/35 one. As Trumpeter haven't released a 1/35 Hind-F,so there should not be 3D Data for scaling down. What's more, according to the part arrangement of Hobbyboss kit,Hind-F will need a thouroughly new fuselage mold. Considering the cost,I don't think Hobbyboss will make the Hind-F version, just like the case of Trumpter 1/35 one. The new kit still have no aftermarket goods,so I have to use those which are for Italeri or Hasegawa kit. The list as below: Part 72003 Mi-24 Cockpit set Part 72004A Mi-24 Interior set Part 72004B Mi-24 Exterior set Linden Hill 72012 "Bush War Hinds Part 2" Linden Hill 72013 Mi-24 Complete Technical Stencil Data PVD Mi-24 Pitot Tube BTW,eagerly looking for Ciro Models 72011 Mi-24V resin weapon set! If you choose to use Part PE sets,do remember to buy the whole 3 sets,or you won't get the entire effect on every aspect. As Hobbyboss kit's canopy has the halding line,I removed it while sanding down the brushed molded on the front glass in order to replace them by PE parts. The electric fans and glass should be added before canopy closes. After considering,I decide to leave canopy closed because the cutting work is really a challenge. WAVE black superglue was used for filling the holes.Very nice, recommended! As the "notch" of Hind-F is different from Hind-D,putty was filled inside the part for later cutting and sanding. Cargo inside surface. The Hobbyboss kit's cockpit parts present enough details so I only added limited PE parts. Do remember to dry-fit the kit, everytime before you gluing! The doors between cockpit and cargo.
haneto
Benches. Whole cockpit was painted, washed and dry-brushed. Front seat. Back seat. The panel plate was made by PE+Film set.
haneto
I will only open the doors on bort side this time. It's always a pleasure to deal with Linden Hill decals. Great job,Guy! The back wall of cargo must be cut/sanded like this or it could not fitted because of the gear bay parts. The canopy was closed, but the width was a little too narrow. The underside of fuselage also met some problems. Putty added. The fitting here is awful, too!Even with some gap! All right, that's all for today. To be continued... Berkut
Looks great as usual. Are you doing it with afaginastan markings as you suggested in tittle? BTW, are you glueing all in place in the cockpit and then painting it all together?
haneto
Thanks,Berkut. Looks great as usual. Are you doing it with afaginastan markings as you suggested in tittle? No,I'm going to make a Soviet Union veteran Hind-F used in Afghanistan War. BTW, are you glueing all in place in the cockpit and then painting it all together? No again. They were all dry-fitted when taken photos. They were assembled only after painting, washing and dry-brushing. All in all, that's my style.I've used to that. janman
Looking good, Haneto! I really like how the pit turned out. I was in the mood for choppers, but after the Hobby Boss Mi-8T fiasco I lost my interest totally. I wanted to do a Finnish Hip C... Your build on the other hand makes me more than interested in the HB Mi-24!
dknights
As usual, I am in awe.

haneto
So you took the kit-supplied canopy and polished it? Looks great! Yes,I found the canopy from Italeri kit is too wide to match the fuselage. And also not so detailed as Hobbyboss part.
haneto
Hooray! Another Haneto work in-progress! How long did it take you to do this far? You seem to work very fast! As long as I remember,it cost me no more than 2 weekends. The details of Hobbyboss kit are really nice! I'm looking forward to their 1/48 MiG-17,1/72 MiG-19/Tu-22M more and more...... haneto
WHAT?!!?!sorry for the shouting.. Is hobbyboss planning to release 1/48 Tu-22?!? And MiG-19? We need more Trumpeter and Hobbyboss rummors! You misunderstood me,Berkut. MiG-19 and Tu-22M are all 1/72 and will be released under the brand "Trumpeter". To me,actually,Hobbyboss=Trumpeter
chukw
Very nice work- your inner canopy masks are so neatly cut! I have to watch this one- cheers! chuk
Aggressor Supporter
Wow! I bet this is going to be one of the most detailed looking Hind build ever.
haneto
Some progress. Weighted tires were made by sanding and putty work. The front gear tires. The main gear tires. The wheel disk of main gear tires lacks some details,so Part PE parts were added. And finally I received the Ciro Models Mi-24V weapon set. The whole parts. It seems the PE parts are OEMed by Extratech while the intruction sheets seem to be like CMK style. The instruction sheets. PE parts. haneto
The resin fins are much shorter than Hobbyboss part. Compared with 4+ palns,it seems Hobbyboss part is correct. Actually, the parts I need most are the exhaust cooling system and chaff/flare dispensers. To be continued......
ChernayaAkula
Are you gonna market those? :(
