Greetings,

For one of my future builds I need the color FS 35193 (or FS 15193), which is a kind of medium blue. Normally I use enamels and prefer Xtra Color.
Unfortunately I could not find any Xtra Color, nor Humbrol or Model Master paint which equals this color...

Anybody out there who knows which paint I can use ??

Thanks in advance !!!

Daniël

Perhaps if you let us know what the build is going to be, we could help more? FS colours are sometimes a bit of a mislead when it comes to a colour being right. It depends on the kit manufacturer to a large extent, some are notorious for dodgy colour call outs.

Its a strange colour though, the only aircraft I can think of wearing it might be one of the "Fancy Phantoms" ie the med blue/green camo one in this pic;

As far as I can see, none of the main paint makers do an FS35193. It looks like a mixing job I'm afraid!

This is the one I had in mind of building:

Sorry for the crappy pics, I must have some better ones somewhere...

The a/c is RF-4EJ 87-6406 as used by the Japanese APW (Air Proving Wing), before being handed over the 501 Hikotai.
This one has been done by Hasegawa as box KA104, but I've given up hope ever finding that box.
Never the less, I still want to give it a try.
The book "Defenders of Nippon" gives these colors for the jet:
FS 35190, FS 35193, and FS 35189 for the upper surface, and FS 36375 for the lower suface. I am aware that these colors might not be 100% correct, but having these 4 paints should give me something to work with !

Any help is much welcome !!

How about checking out Gunze Line of Paints? Since its a Japanese Bird and was Hasagawa boxing at one time, they might have the color in their Lacquer or Acrylic lineup, but not listed by its FS Number.

That's a good idea, but where do I find a copy of the Hase paint-instructions once given in that box ??
Is there a Japanese modellers forum anyone knows about ? I've asked on this forum before, but figured there are not that many Japanese builders on ARC...

Any one ? ? ?

FWIW the IPMS Stockholm paint references charts do not show any matches for FS x5193. The closest FS numbers are 35183 (Tamiya XF-08 and Xtracolour X146) and FS 35200 (Tamiya XF-14) there isnt even a mix shown for 35193.

Have a look here. Specifically, they're recommending Xtracolor 335 as a match, although I don't have any way of verifying that. Also, have a look here to determine other close matches.
