Cool. I wonder how it will stack up against the AZ/Legato kit when both get released. Any idea who will distribute/carry this model online? I know I'm interested at least in a couple...
Take care, Austin |

I'm not so wild about the fuselage halves being moulded in clear - the seam down the middle of the windscreen may turn out to be a bear.... I AM happy to see another option of a 'pointy-nosed' 500/530, but I'll wait to see the plastic before getting into a lather.

This is great news. A new 500D, a first 500E in 1/72 scale, with a 520N Notar, 500 with floats and a Little Bird to follow, all in 1/72! It looks like Profiline have all bases covered. Hopefully they will make the Little Bird the newer H-6M version. I was working on making a master for a set of floats from balsa wood but it looks like Profiline will save me the trouble.
The split fuselage in clear plastic is an innovative approach to solving the problem of the bubble nose of the 500 Series. That is the main problem with the Italeri kit. All four doors are open as well, which is a nice touch. Overall, it looks quite nice. The NOTAR version would look good built up like one of these; http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1188719/ I also had a quick look at the AZ Models website. I had heard that they had cancelled their 1/72 500D/E project, then reinstated it. Their site is showing that these kits are listed as "Future Releases". The kits are listed as MD500D Defender and MD500E. Not only that, but they also have two newer versions listed. They are down as the Kawasaki OH-6D and the Nardi NH-500E. Hannants in the UK are also showing the Defender and 500E kits as future releases. Just to contradict this information, it is stated in the June 2010 issue of "Scale Aviation Modeller" that AZ Models have cancelled their range of 500 Kits. So at the moment it is hard to tell what is happening with AZ Models. It would be great to have two all-new kits of the 500, but even one will be great. I had better start saving now! LD. |

They look very real knowing that its 1:72 scale, how much $$ it will cost? can they make a 1:48 version of it?

It looks like it won't be long now! It's amazing that we will finally get a full range of MD500s. The news that a float-equipped version is coming is just the icing on the cake.

Actually, with the framework that runs down the center of the windscreen, with a little care and patience it will work out fine..... at least I think it will. |

Another four from AZ models - first time will be sold at ModelBrno international competition - the biggest of this kind in Czech Republic on Sat 26 June in Brno (www.modellbrno.cz).
The kits contain two models in a box: OH-6D (4x Japan) NH-500E (2x ITA armed forces, 1x NH-500D Italian Forestale) MD-500MD (Israel, South Korea, Croatia, Kenya, Argentina) MD-500E (Mexico, Argentina, Finland, Salvador, Philiphine, 2x civilian) More on: http://modelweb.modelforum.cz/view.php?cis...anku=2010060003 |

Proof that the Hughes 500 is just like a bus. Nothing for ages, then two come along together! What an amazing selection of marking options we now have between the Profiline and AZ Models kits. It's a pity that AZ have dropped the ASW version. I guess we can't have it all. I can't wait for either kit to arrive.

So guys,
Stepan from Profiline just sent some renders of MD500 on floats as promised few days ago. He also has a dolly which will be later available as a separate item. Well, enough words, jump to pictures... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Regards Alexandr |

Dang, I really should put a few more kits up for sale on eBay, just to have enough play money for all those MD500/530 etc. versions.
But.... as the shop owner of my main supplier said just yesterday - consider that you have to mask and paint the interior sides of the clear fuselage parts too. One can only hope that Eduard will come up with something. Cheers Thorsten |
