New book: IRIAF 2010 - The modern Iranian Air Force

Recommended Posts

Dear ARCers,

I have just received the newest book "IRIAF 2010" from Harpia Publishing.

Having already covered the combat operations of IRIAF F-4s and F-14s, Tom Cooper and his team produced a really great work - full of phantastic shots - covering this combat proven air force:

http://www.harpia-publishing.com/index-IRIAF.html

Quoting Tom Cooper:

This book is a softback, 160 pages thick, slightly wider than DIN A4 format.

It covers the current organisation and equipment of IRIAF, and is organized in 15 chapters, as follows:

- A short history of the Iranian Air Force

- The IRIAF in 2010

- TFB.1: Mehrabad

- TFB.2: Tabriz

- TFB.3: Nojeh

- TFB.4: Vahdati

- TFB.5: Ardestani

- TFB.6: Yassini

- TFB.7: Dowran

- TFB.8: Baba'i

- TFB.9: Bandar Abbas

- TFB.10: Konarak

- TFB.14: Imam Reza

- Other IRIAF Bases

- Order of Battle

Each chapter contains the history of the air base and locally-based units (on unit-by-unit basis), ever since they were established and right up to our days, followed by - depending on the number of locally-based units - 2-3 high-rez, digital photographs of the aircraft flown by each unit (including all the training- and transport units). Chapters covering larger air bases also contain tables with local orders of battle as of the late 1970s, and then as presently (some comparission can't hurt, obviously).

The chapter covering the Order of Battle is actually the summary of all the information provided in this book, presented in form of patches worn by pilots and personnel of each unit (as far as available or - in many cases - existent). Actually, except in 2-3 cases, we've got all the unit patches currently worn by IRIAF pilots.

Greetings

Diego
