Blue73
Hi, I originally posted my build over at the Flory Models forum but thought I'd share it with the wider community. The wooden base is scratched from plasticard and the model the HobbyBoss 1/48 kit. cheers John Edited March 26, 2016 by Blue73
Gambler
Outstanding John! That is some sweet work on that, the finish is beautiful, and great work on the base. Gorgeous! Cheer's, Jeff.
Av8fan
Excellent work! I agree with Gambler. Any tips/thoughts on construction of the kit? The Gatling base is great. Is that custom made?
White Wolf
Really, really nice! I thought I was looking at the actual plane in photos! The base looks awesome too! :thumbsup:/>
ChernayaAkula
Lovin' this! Marvellous work! A little photoshop magic on the second and the fifth picture and it'd look like the real deal.
nicholassagan
Uh, Hobby Boss?? Holy shoot!! This is an amazing build!!!! Please share a link to a WIP and more finished pics please!!!!
Blue73
Thanks guys! The base was entirely scratch built. I've posted some build photo's below. The A-10 is largely OOB. The Maverick/launcher rail is a resin part, so is the sidewinder rail. I also scratched the GPS antenna and used a spare F-14 pilot. Decals are the TwoBobs "Too Cool for School" ones. Other than that it's straight from the HobbyBoss kit. cheers John Edited October 6, 2013 by Blue73
Blue73
I should mention the weapons are from the Hasegawa weapon sets.
Gambler
Brilliant work on the base John!.....probably the best I have seen. Cheer's, Jeff.
Crazy Snap Captain
Dude that is sweeeeet! What an amazing build. And using the HB kit! I recently finished it and know what a pain it was. Congrats!
sharkey
It's easily the best base I've seen and the model is excellent. Congrats.
coneheadff
What a great display!!!! Did you scratch build the antenna behind the GPS dome or is it included in the HB kit?
A-10 LOADER
John, AMAZING build, very well done. As my screen names says I loaded these bad boys for 17 1/2 years. Your attention to detail is superb and I especially like the scratch built gun muzzle and barrels, even adding the safety wire on the muzzle bolt, nice. We all I think would love to see more WIP shots if you have them. Again GREAT JOB !! Steve
Ace Combat Zero
You have to have some serious modeling skills to make that, that's museum quality.
Blue73
Sorry I only have build photos of the base and weapons. It was initially a side project so I didn't take early photos. Hi Coneheadff: I scratch built the GPS antenna the dome is from the kit. Hi A-10 Loader: That would be a great experience, to be able to get that close to the GAU-8! I cant't get enough of watching the GAU-8 firing :) Thank you all for your comments, most appreciated! Cheers John
Qian
Sweet stuff John! You captured the Hog at its very best! Well done!
Sebastijan
Awesome work and finally a model with accurate load out as well. There are some details that should be corrected for a C version but nevertheless a great job! Display stand rocks, too!
yardbird78
Beautiful work on the HAWG and that base is way beyond excellent. Job well done. Darwin
