Motta
Again I've started to be bored with my current projects... so I opened another box... actually boxes! Here are the challengers: Because it is not fair compare an old kit with a new one, I got some extra for the Academy kit (kind of doping): I think the cockpit photo etch too dark so I got one Wolfpack resin set (excellent): And the Eduard kit: Edited December 9, 2014 by Motta
11bee
Oohh nice. I just got the Eduard SMT kit, will be following this one closely. The camo schemes in the Eduard kit look incredibly complex and have me scared off. What colors are you planing for your SM? NMF or camo?
Motta
The Academy kit will be NMF and Eduard will be that one: Sorry I made a mistake on the title... the Eduard kit will be a MT version.
nicholassagan
Kick butt. I'm working on my Eduard MF right now... Edited December 9, 2014 by nicholassagan
11bee
Sorry I made a mistake on the title... the Eduard kit will be a MT version. You're a better man than me! That camo scheme is just too much. Great subject choice though. Are you going with the faded colors in the picture or more of an "in-service" look? Don't worry about the mistake on the designation, I never understood what the difference was between the MT, SM and SMT versions. Anyway, I look forward to seeing your progress. 11bee
I love the Eduard kits....This is the SMT I did a few months ago OOB. Nice.. did you free hand the camo or mask it off?
riceballtrp
Nice.. did you free hand the camo or mask it off? Free hand air brush.....after lightly drawing the lines and designating colors. Much like paint by number
dnl42
I'm building the Academy kit in the Starfish GB...it just doesn't compare to the Eduard.
dnl42
BTW, I recommend all of Wolpack's bits; you won't like Academy's cockpit, wheel wells, or nozzle, either... Edited December 10, 2014 by David N Lombard

I do like "faded colors" but I don't have skill to do that so because I don't have option I will do "in service" look... But dirty! hey... but this is not true... I'm not better man than you. Since I returned to the hobby 2 years ago (after a 15 years break) I've never tried a camo... and all my tools are new for me... airbrush, air compressor... I will try not mess up... fingers crossed! Motta
Some progress... The Academy Kit is the light grey plastic (obviously the Eduard is the dark one) At first look the wheel bays are pretty similar... but Eduard has some "tricks"... So I added few bits to the Academy kit Edited December 2, 2015 by Motta
Motta
Nose wheel bay: I added an extension from the Eduard Phot etch set: Cockpits: Academy Eduard Side panels consist of 4 plastic pieces... plus another plastic, decal or PE (Profi Pack) for the consoles. For the IP you can choose to paint, decal or PE part (Profipack) It's not a fair with Academy so I asked help to Wolfpack resin Drop fit! Motta
Wolfpack IP: Some colour Mike Grant decals, washes... More washes, dry brushing, matt cote and Micro Kristal Klear: And... tah dah: Less than 20mm... Eduard panel is the classic plastic and photo etch sandwich... some touch up, washes, varnishes and Micro Kristal Klear:
