I use the Vallejo Model Air Matt Varnish and love it. I no longer see it listed at Sprue Bros but see Vallejo Model Color Matte Varnish. Are these the same thing?

Thanks for any info you can provide.e

I'm looking for 2 Tamiya AIM-9L's in 1/48 for a Tomcat build ASAP.

I can pay cash or trade for something I may have on hand.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking for two Tamiya pilot heads in 1/48. I would like heads with visor down and the HGU-33 helmet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Time to begin the next project in my line of famous moments in Tomcat history builds.

This will be the famous Hoser AIMVAL/ACEVAL Eagle kill in 1/48. The model will be built using the HAS 1/48 kit with Fightertown decals. Quickboost seats will be added to beef up the cockpit detail.

Displayed in flight, the model will be displayed the way Hoser described the Eagle kill set-up and Tomcat configuration to me. Pointing almost straight down with the Eagle in it's sights, the flaps and slats were full extended with the cans wide open. The 4 port spoilers were also up about 4". The jet had no drop tanks and carried a blue AIM-9L and blue TACTS pod.

The model will be mounted over a base cut in the shape of the Tomcat windscreen center panel. A piece of 3/16" polished acrylic will be cut as well. The famous image of the Eagle with the pipper on it (pending final approval) will be mounted under it as the kill would have looked through the windscreen with the projection information displayed.

Thanks for all the information regarding this jet that has been passed on to me. Also, much thanks to Hoser,HJ, and Andre for getting me straight on this project. Their time is truly appreciated.

Here is my display mockup.

The office....I had some spare parts from an old Aires cockpit that I was able to work into the HAS cockpit tub. I used the IP covers to add a bit more detail to the cockpit area under the canopy and windscreen. The pilots fit nicely into the Quickbost seats as well. I'll finish off the cockpit and seats with some Eduard PE parts.

Hoser said that the Tomcat was coming staight down on the Eagle rolling to the left. The flaps were fully extended and the 4 port spoilers were up about 4". As you know, dropping the flaps is easy on the HAS kit, opening the spoilers is a whole other story. Here enters my first real scratchbuilding experience. This is the first time I have cut away control surfaces and repositioned them. Cutting away the spoilers was a chore with all the little hinge indentions. In the end, the work was well worth it. I filled the area under the spoilers with the unused HAS landing gear, steel bars, styrene, and copper wire. After it was primed and painted I was real pleased with the resuts. Next up is to cut out the spoliers and make some hinges to secure them.

I'm looking for 2 photo etch ejection rings for the GRU-7A headrest. I'm looking for something similar to the ones provided in the Aires aftermarket Tomcat cockpit kits.

Thanks for any help.
