  1. I've been collecting some 1/72 Hasegawa F-16 kits for a little bit now that as time and money have

permitted I have bought a matching Eduard detail set for. These are the pre-painted sets that look

    great to me!!

Well anyway, I just got around to starting one of the kits when I discovered the nasty little bit of plastic

surgery that has to happen in order to fit the main insturment pannel!! I mean really, cut the hood off ( carefully of course

because it has to be reused ) then cut the hood in two, add a filler and re-use??? COME ON!!!!!!!!!!! It wouldn't be so bad

if they provided a replacement hood ( for example ,like on a Fw-190) BUT NOOOOO....

Now I have at least 6 different kits with detail sets that would need this modification ! Are they all like this?

If they are I guess I'll just save up for the Aires sets......and go through the hassel ofethier selling the Eduard sets

or useing some or etc etc...

I don't recall seeing this observation anywhere so please be forwarned!!

  2. I have used a number of different glues for attaching PE to plastic but something I have always had troube with

is useing any cyno on a cockpit sidewall. It seems that even when I get the dry fit perfect there always seems to be glue that gets out

when doing this attachment. So, I use white glue or hypo glue. I have even used transfer tape ( works well in some cases)

Does anybody else have any other ways I might try. ??

    Thanks

  3. I'm trying my first Alclad(sp?) finish.

    So , I'm hopeing to practice on a model I started . Here's how far I've gotten.

I have alread sprayed Model Master NON buffing alum on this model...

My understanding is........... that it would be ok to spray the Alclad Clear Base over this. ????

I want to do this because to me, the Model Master finish is to grainey .

I then have planned to spray with Alclad " Aircraft Alum " to get that smoother/ shiney finish..

Some of the panels on the model HAD already been left a chrom green color.. ( the clear will go over that too.)

So, I'm expecting contrast from having those different colored panels when the Alclad Aircraft Alum is sprayed. I would then like to mask certin other panels and use different Model Master shades over the Alclad...

HELP??? Please tell me if there is a compatibility issue I'm getting into that I'm not aware of.

    Thanks, Henry

  4. Thanks Guys!!

Peter! Your G4M2 looks great! Maybe, a little silver powder rubbed into the bottom would give that look?

Nothing like natural dust to give that even tone to a paint job! LOL <_<

  5. I'm a little confused today....Can anybody please tell me if this is an old kit or a new release?

Squadron's decription makes me think it is a old kit but I've been thinking it was one of their new

1/72 twin engin wonders like the B-25 or B-26 kit...??????????

  6. Crap I stand corrected Want to sell one or two???

I've just never seen them listed in anybodys 1/72 scale kit selection!!!

Thanks, Habu you've given me hope!!!!

For what I said about hasegawa I appologise about the shame part! But I still admire the

1/72 twin engin collection!! Fantastic kits!!

  8. Hey Guys, The Hasegawa 1/72 P-38 kit is already ripe for the process.....

They give you the parts you need. You just have to endure the fit up!

You might even be able to use these parts with the Academy kit?

  9. Maybe some of you know about these kits?

I've never seen one ( 1/72 scale) and would like to know how they compair in detail with other manufactures?

If the fuse is one piece, then how are the cockpits done?

    Thanks, Henry

  10. 2 different 1/72 Hasegawa new tool F-14B kits.

    HE09687...$ 60.26 each

    HE00814....$37.76 each

Why such a big dif in price? I can't believe decals would make the disparity.

  11. Ok guys, which do you think is better? The Hasegawa or the Fujimi kit?

I have 2 of the Hasegawa kits and as far as dry fit goes they kinda.... well... suck

The shape looks ok but the nose seems a little blunt to me.

I have a few Fujimi kits ( an A4 and a British Phantom) that seem great to me.

    Thanks, Henry

  12. Hi Jet guys!!

I build mostly WWII stuff ( 1/72) scale and have really only built just a few jets ( a couple of Mirage F-1's for a friend and

    an A-10 for my Boss)

However, I have been collecting Jet kits ever since I got back into modeling so I have about 70 or so kits.

    I have 4 Hasegawa F-14 Tomcats ( A, A+, B, D) And 4 Hasegawa/ 1 Revell F-15's ( A, C, 2 J's and the Revell/Hasegawa E which

I know is not really accurate for the E model)

Both of these kits look like they don't just fall togeather!! My question is which is the harder build?

I also have 7 Revell F-16 kits and 5 Hasegawa F-16 kits but these don't look to hard to build.

But the F-14 and F-15 have me worried!!

  13. B) Hello everbody, I'd like some input before I spend money!!!

Is the Hasegawa 1/72 Mig 29 Kit a good model of the real thing? Is there a better one? Airfix?

Also, I think todays F-16 on the home page looks great! This is the 1/72 Academy kit? Is it a good model of the YF-16?

I would like to put a good YF-16 into the F-16 collection!

    Thanks Much!!
