  1. Hi Guys,

First off let me apologize. Long story short, I got the flu, turned into pneumonia, wound up in the hospital. I was discharged yesterday. I feel really bad about it taking so long for what I owe you. I do humbly apologize. I will get both of your stuff out soon. I just need a couple of days to get some strength back. I am sorry and please don't take this as an excuse, it's meerly an explanation.

    Humbly and sincerely,

    David

  2. The answer to that question is NO...............we had to slow the boat down during recoverys just so the S-3 guys could catch up and land. :D

For the E-2 guys we had to throw it into reverse. :coolio:

    Reddog :coolio:

OH...... Thats just wrong!!!!!! :)

  3. Just bought a Revell -18F and was wondering what was needed to bring it up to modern standards. I don't fully understand the ACS cockpit configuration or Heat Blankets? Is the revell kit correct OOB? Basically any help for a Super Hornet Newbie. I've got the Detail and Scale book on the E/F but it seems the plane has evolved since then.

    Sincerely,

    David

  4. What is needed to convert Academy's 1/35th UH-1C kit to a Navy TH-1L. looking at the thread in research corner has got me thinking. Other than paint and an external rescue hoist, are there any other differences? Don't be afraid to state the obvious.... I really don't know!

    Sincerely,

    David

  5. Yes it is.

The first pic is of a TACTS Pod (Tactical Air Combat Training System).

The second is of a ARDS Pod (Advanced Range Data System).

Both are variants of ACMI Pods.

    Reddog

Thanks Reddog. Know where I can find some good pics of the ARDS pod to scratchbuild one. I tried googleing but nothing came up.

    Found this pic:

Pretty difinative on the TACTS pod! :soapbox: I can't decide what rail that is. Could it be that a western pod is mounted on a russian rail?

  6. I saw a program on The Military Channel about F-18's Going to Germany to do some DACM with MiG-29's. The program was called Red October. Ever since then I wanted to build a MiG-29. My question is do the mIg's carry an ACMI pod for debriefing? I can't seem to find any pictures of a MiG with a pod. It's hard to believe in this day and age they would use the old "I shot you first" playground kind of thing.

  7. OK ;) Going out on a limb here.... But that is FREAKIN COOL !!! How on earth do you even get started on cockpit collecting. I've heard of some people having ejection seats, but I have no idea on how to get one. Does anybody here in the States know where to start?

    Sincerely,

    David

  8. Hey Pig,

The tube on the bottom of the tank is an adapter for mounting a IRCM pod. I forget the designation of the pod itself. I have lots of pics but none I can post. That adapter is fitted to AC-130A, HC-130 and MC-130's. The AC-130A only had ! wing station which usually carried a wing tank. The MC and HC has two stations per wing with a fuel tank between the engines and a AAR pod outbourd.Since we didn't have a place to mount the pod they came up with a bracket for the bottom of the fuel tank. The power cord is exactly that, it provides power to the pod. On AC-130H and U models the outbourd station usually mounted a TER with an ALQ on the lower point and the aforementioned pod on the OUTBOURD side of the pod on both wings.

    Sincerely,

    David

Here is a pic of the pod Parent mounted on a U-Boat

BlackBox/Avionics includes them in their F-18 Exterior set. The set also includes the CVER's, a open air to air refueling bay, dual chaff buckets and some LAU rails for double sidewinder mounts. BlackBox used to sell just the nozzles, but the website shows them out of production. Perhaps with Aires releasing theirs you may be able to find someone selling the BlackBox set.

    Sincerely,

    David

  10. WOW! Thanks for the lesson. That is some really cool stuff. It will be neat to see if the USAF selects the same seat. I never thought about the "lighter weight occupents" and some of the problems that might crop up.

    Thanks,

    David

Thanks for the link to the US16T Seat.

  11. The New NASA T-38 walkaround posted today (6-OCT-2007) looks like it has a different ejection seat fitted than I've ever seen on an F-5. Has NASA upgraded its T-38 Ejection seats? Is the USAF doing the same? I've got the DACO book and I believe it talks about a seat upgrade, but it doesn't have any pics (I Think!).

    Just Curious,

    David
