  1. Hey gang,

Got my hands on my first aftermarket conversion/detail kits for a build I'm working on, but I'm wondering what glues are best to:

    Glue resin to plastic?

    Glue metal to plastic?

Pretty sure my liquid cement will only get me so far :P

Thanks for your guidance in advance!!

Thank you, you've managed to put into words what I have not been and did it more respectfully than I ever could.

You bet! Also, in my very humble and unimportant opinion: Modly is your run-of-the-mill POS and he'll get his

    SecNav did not call him "stupid" he said;

"If he didn’t think, in my opinion, that this information wasn’t going to get out into the public, in this day and information age that we live in, then he was either A, too naive or too stupid to be a commanding officer of a ship like this," Modly said of Crozier. "The alternative is that he did this on purpose."

Capt. Crozier caused a chit storm because he didn't like the way his superiors were handling something, for that, he is unfit for command.

BTW, 155 Sailors popped positive for the virus, that's about 2.8% of the crew. We've had more folks get sick from food poisoning that that and we never slowed down ops. Hell, one cruise we had an outbreak of food poisoning four times on a seven month cruise, no letter was ever sent. There's a reason why you never eat the Salisbury Steak on a carrier, not unless you want to lose ten pounds real quick.

I get what you're saying about only 2.8% of the crew being infected, but look at ANY of the other cruise liners that had outbreaks of COVID-19 and you can see why his fears about an outbreak on his ship was justified. This thing spreads exponentially.

Naval leadership apparently wanted to review his conduct and not necessarily remove him from command (yet), but the acting SecNav decided to flex and dismiss him from command. Modly also threw out melodramatic terms like "betrayal" in his address, which is causing grief because statements like that are grounds for court martial... Crozier should've exercised better judgement and gone through proper channels, but maybe he did and he wasn't getting the response he deemed adequate for the safety of his crew. This is why the Navy wanted to review the events before making any decisions.

In retrospect, Modly is the furthest out of line with his recent conduct which is conduct unbecoming of the so-called acting secretary of our Navy.

Let me just preface this by saying I do believe and fear this virus.....I believe it is the real deal.

There is a co-worker of mine that believes every conspiracy theory and he says the virus is a hoax and the people in the hospitals simply have the flu.  He says the virus is to control the people and introduce laws etc that will get a tight grip of the people in each country.

To me he is a nut bag....heck he spends plenty of time trying to explain to me that the world is flat etc.  He is also an anti-vaxxer.....he says the virus was caused by the introduction of 5G in China. The vaccine will be the final step in controlling all the people.

He also smokes and tells me smoking doesn't cause lung cancer.

I always feel like my IQ has dropped 10 points after listening to him for even a few minutes.

I will continue wearing my N95 mask in public.

Geeze, this is a great reminder why we should always model in well ventilated areas and lay off the glue sniffing lol

I’m not in NYC but I am in and out of 2-3-4 hospitals a day in DFW. I can tell you this for a fact:

Yes hospitals look empty. You know why?  Because hospitals are for the most part closing all but one entrance and, at that entrance, only letting in essential personnel. Unfortunately visitors are not “essential” and that’s why footage of lobbies, waiting rooms etc look empty. As one on those “essential” persons I can tell you things are quite busy where it matters in a hospital. The above video is just as irresponsible and uninformed as the mainstream media it is supposedly outing. The virus is real, the crisis is real, and there is a very Very VERY high possibility I will catch this virus while doing my job to help save the lives of dumbasses like those in the above video.

    You’re welcome.

Completely completely agree. My brother and I work in healthcare (he in Ohio, me in California): the industry is flooding, but only for critical departments like Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care. Elective-surgeries and non-critical procedures/appointments are being cancelled and rescheduled because they are wishing those patients to stay home to also practice social distancing. It's damn terrifying when we're discharging patients with pneumonia (normally hospitalized) from hospitals to make space for more critically ill, COVID19-positive patients. Our colleagues in NY are unfortunately on the front lines of this.

We don't hear IEDs or RPGs blow up in our neighborhoods, but that doesn't mean our country isn't at war.

Atrocities are not uncommon on the battlefield. Both sides could be called out equally. I've watched the local VC walk thru a village with a sack of grenades and a flame thrower at two in the morning. One well known fellow was offered a choice of Leavenworth or the utter destruction of a VC mine making village. I know this as fact as I was in the room. In the end the General was right, but don't condone his methods. On the otherhand people are generally treated the way they treat others.

Combat in the bush is nothing like you see in film footage. If it's serious, the press won't be dumb enough to be in the middle of it. I saw exactly two Army photographers in my tour. The first one was near Chu Lai, and the second one flew into A102. He stayed less than fifteen minutes when he heard the mortars going down the tubes. Said he be back, but you know the story. Top said we don't need no  pictures anyway! Besides cameras don't do well on the night shift. War is a night shift thing, contrary to popular belief.

Wanta read about atrocities? The learn about Koreans and the Hill People.

Amen to that brother, I was just surprised that COs allowed their units to wear ears/scalps as necklaces. Then again, there were some COs that literally took Hueys into LZs only to get back onto them again so that they could qualify for their CIBs... what some people did for chest candy I guess

  8. Getting back into the hobby after a ~5 year hiatus and I seem to have misplaced my hose for my Aztek A470.

Does anyone know what size air hose couples with the A470? I tried searching for the hoses online, but I can't find any distributors that really stock Aztek/Testors supplies anymore. Did they also go belly up? 😞

    TIA!

I have heard the Germans refer to the 101st as "American SS", and always thought that interesting

Interesting indeed. There is a book out called Tiger Force by Michael Sallah and Mitch Weiss -- it's a good read, but it really chronicles some pretty nasty war atrocities by some members of the 101st during Nam.

  10. Hey everyone,

Have you guys seen the newer LED "white" Christmas lights? They look almost blue. I'm trying to figure out if there is a sure-fire way to dye/tint these LEDs so they look a little warmer. If you don't know what I mean, here's the difference (my lights look like the one on the right side of this video, boooo).

I was thinkin, maybe the ARC guys would have a trick up their sleeves to help me with this predicament. I imagined diluted brown shoe polish? It needs to be able to last against the elements/weather because these lights are our outdoor ones.

Thank you guys so much in advanced!!! Hope you guys are all doing well!

  11. [i understand not all ARC members are American, but please bear with me]

We've always said that we'll never forget, but as I look back now, I can't believe that it has been 10 years since the horrible events of 9/11 took place. The events of that day united a country within an instant, but has that unity lasted? Have we forgotten?

In recent months, I've noticed much hostility among Americans -- Democrat vs Republican, Tea Party vs America, Left vs Right... the list goes on. I remember that on that fateful morning, I was only in the 6th grade, my classmates and I were glued to the TV. Young, innocent, naive of the world, it took the repeated images of New York and the endless news reports for reality to finally sink in. I remember I looked around the classroom that morning and realized that my peers weren't Indian, Black, Asian, White, Pacific Islander, or Hispanic. In all of our eyes we saw and understood, with appreciation and acknowledgement, that we were all American. Our bravest and strongest heroes seemed so vulnerable, yet we stood united and strong and supported one another through those dark days.

Remember when you woke up and heard the news?

Remember when you saw the first, second planes hit?

Remember the first responders who rushed to the scene?

Remember when the towers fell or the empty void it left?

Remember how we spent days to search for and rescue survivors?

Remember how, as a nation and a world, we came together?

However you recall that day, just remember it. Today of all days, remember it. Never forget.

  12. Man, I turned the tube off last night after the Cup ceremonies ended and read about small scuffles breaking out around the arena... I never thought it'd turn into a full blown, war-scene riot. I hope everyone in Vancouver is safe, especially those stabbing victims. I can't believe this happened after a loss -- yes, most of the anarchists aren't even hockey fans, but many people in blue and white jerseys participated in the rioting and looting. I guess they jumped on the rioting bandwagon just as easily as they jumped onto the Vancouver hockey bandwagon because it's evident they aren't true fans of hockey (or any sport, for that matter). I'm glad to see that fans are joining together to help clean up the streets though, it honestly looked like footage from Libya or something. I hope that Facebook identifying page turns up a lot of arrests so people can be held accountable.

  13. Congrats to everyone in Boston.

    +1

Congrats, Boston! Hopefully you guys out there celebrate with a little more restraint than the fans in Vancouver right now..

Great season everyone, can't wait for next year!

  14. Who else here is really happy that the Bruins are up 3-0 right now :D I can't help but feel a bit elated, both at the fact that Tim Thomas is playing some terrific hockey and that Luongo is finally showing that he's immortal (and very susceptible and deserving of the criticisms of seasons past). I dislike many players on Vancouver's team simply because their hitters always leave their feet when they check. It gets annoying after awhile but meh what can you do..

What do you guys think about those Winnipeg Jets!?

  15. Oh wow, where are my Sharks fans at?! :[ I feel like we're certainly underrepresented here in these forums :P

Mmm, it's been awhile since I've last posted but I'm rooting for Boston!!! WHOO GO BRUINS, GIVE THEM HELL BOYS!!!
