Boeing P 26 Colour and marking for 94th Pursuit Sqn

Recommended Posts

Hi,

First time here.......

Just got myself a 1/48 P26 Peashooter and is very keen to complete it. Just one problem, I am not too sure of the colour scheme indicated on the instruction sheet. I am interested in the colour of 94th Pursuit Sqn and from my seach, there seem to be some conflicting information on the colour used by the sqn. Some source state it as Oliver drab and Crome Yellow and another states it is in Blue and Crome Yellow.

Which is the correct colour?

Hope some of you folks can help shed some light on this confusion

cheers

The Peashooter was in service during the USAAF transition from OD to blue, and so the plane in 94th livery could have either scheme. Both schemes used the yellow wings and tail.

On an aesthetic note, the blue-with-red-scallops scheme is a garish, primary color assult on the eyeballs, while the OD-with-red-scallops is much more sophosticated, being is merely tasteless. :salute: I prefer the 95th Pursuit blue-white-blue Kicking Mule scheme, myself.

Good luck with whichever scheme you choose.

Phil
