Regarding the shot of the PACAF F-16 demo plane, I noticed that the inner 6" of the intake and the antenna feed have been painted black. I've never seen that on an F-16 before. Is this just a little bit of "trim" for the demo jet or is it a stealth enhancement?

Just came across this thread and was wondering if anyone has been able to locate new pictures of the latest configuration Apache? All the added sensors and the new exhausts really make for a new look.
Plus can anyone ID what all the new lumps and bumps are?

If you want to have a live visual feed while listing to Boston area ATC chat, go to http://www4.passur.com/bos.html
This site plots radar returns over a map of the area. It also add transponder info so you get the flight ID, aircraft type, altitude, etc. You can select ranges from 10 to 90 miles. The long range scale is pretty cool during rush hours, it neat to see how all the flights are choreographed.
I believe that they offer this for other airports throughout the US. They also store this data so you can go back to a certain date / time.
It was originally put out there by the airport so that residents nearby who had noise compliants could ID the offending flight.
Enjoy,
John

I would love to see a new-tool 1/48th scale '106. I think it is the prettiest of all the jets. Always had a soft spot for the coldwar air defence jets in general. Wouldn't mind a new tool F-101B and an F-94C as well.

Ah the duck tour at Tyndall when they left us out under a tent in a rather rowdy thunderstorm complete
with lighting hits around the area. The weather aborts created some unique photo opportunities along with
really wet shoes. :)
That picure of a Mass ANG 102nd FW F-106 brought back a cool memory. When I was a kid back in the late 70's, I had the pleasure to see one of their F-106's scream over my beachfront neighborhood approx 100' off the ground, in full afterburner, at seven in the morning. I thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen.
Years later, I was working at Otis ANG Base and mentioned the incident to one of the ANG maintenance techs. He told me that it was probably a specific pilot that had been known for such things. He figured that this guy had friends or family living nearby and wanted to give them a unique wake-up call. Seems like this guy was somewhat of a legend.
You won't see anything like that these days. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

What a wonderful job! Just wondering, does the Panda kit give you the ability to change the configuration of the troop seats? Also, is it me or do you have the pilots seats reversed? I thought the large side armor plate was on the outside?
I plan on doing one of these to show the type that I flew on back in "the day". Will use Fireball's ASE update with the radar warning recievers, toilet bowl IR supressor (always thought that made the Huey look so much cooler) and a helo drab paint job. I disintictly remember one Huey that was helo drap with an OD tail boom. I may go for that ship just to add some variety.

Apache Exhaust Modification
in Helicopter Modeling
Posted
Jon,
Do you know if the new exhausts are a fleet-wide mod or just a trial to evaluate the new exhausts? Also any idea why the Army has not seen fit to upgrade their Apaches with the DIRCM (I think that is the designation, it's the laser used to spoof IR missiles)? Does the system weigh too much or is it just based on cost?
It sure would be nice to have someone put out some resin to reflect the new look...
Thanks for your info.
John
PS - your Cobra book is on my Christmas list. Looking forward to reading it! Any interest in doing a book for Osprey on the 160th or has that topic been beat to death by now?
