  1. But I want you to try and think about how hard it is to synch up multiple snipers on a moving ship(s) firing at another moving boat at exactly the same instant in a situation that leaves no room for error and how that may not be the best solution.

I sailed around the Pacific in yacht, in some places where there was the possiblity we would come into contact with Indonesian pirates. So we practiced shooting tin cans dangling from the mast, during the doldrums. Even on a flat ocean, I cannot imagine being very successful sniping in this situation - you're moving, your target is moving in a reasonably unpredictable manner. When I heard about the situation you mention above, I was pretty dumbfounded and my admiration for the team went up dramatically.

  2. I had a jeweller friend who worked in exclusively in silver. Every few months, she would burn the carpet she purposely kept underneath her workbench. This would allow her to collect the silver from the carpet from her work. I always loved the idea. Sadly, this is no help to us at all, but still fun to think about.

  3. Mike I was about to dismiss your metalizer brush-on tip, as I've achieved pretty amazing finished with Alcad. However, clicking through that link has me really intrigued! I have some Mr Metal Colour buffing metalizer which I have never used, but now I must try it! Thanks for the tip.

  4. As for original issue...

... a LIGHT coat from the airbrush is important. That 'lip' you're describing is bascially too much paint buildup. Secondly, the angle at which you airbrush is also important!

    ______\\\\\\\

    -----------------------

Basically the above shows the edge of the masking (______) and the angle you want is a bit too vertical in this example (\\\\\\\). You want to angle it so you're not aiming into the seam between the masking tape and the canopy (-------) because that will fill up with your paint pretty quickly and cause the issues you're describing.

Sorry for my horrible diagram. Best of luck!

  5. I was considering getting this - thanks for the heads up. It looks like an easy fix, but totally necessary. I think I will just remove those spines totally. Exciting news on the Tumbler. I really want a larger one!

  6. So what generally happens to the deployed groups in this situation, once a huge military presence is no longer needed? I'm not a military many so have no idea. Do the groups come home, get disbanded and people forcibly retired? Or do they stay on in some other role? Voluntary redundancy?

  7. That rear deck is a killer isn't it! My 8 year old daughter actually helped me - I would call out the number, she identified it, trimmed it off the sprue and then handed it to me. I would do some minor cleanup work and glue it on. She was really happy to help too, which made it a lot of fun.
