You wouldn't happen to be taking one of the lovely DAU courses? If so I'd pack no doze or lots of caffeine!

Can't help u with the parts but you may want to look on ebay for the weapons set. I've seen the Japanese set A go for around $10. Also a word of warning, the fins aren't correct for US version so you'll have to scratch build. Not a complicated but somewhat of a chore chore. (I've done 3 already)

Nice stuff! The L-39 is a slick looking bird. Even living in the country that made them I don't see them as often as I'd like.
Last I heard, MPM is planning ot put their 1/48 L-39 kit back on the market in updated form. Part of the updates include injection molded clear parts to replace the vac formed ones which yellowed so badly in the box.
That MS.760 Paris is something special. There can't be too many of them around I imagine, apparently four of them were imported to the US.
Will they be offering replacement canopies to those of us that spend $ on their original release?

I'm wondering if a certain company's lawyers put an end to that. It wouldn't surprise me. The mouse can be vicious when it comes to legalities and such.
I'd guess it is more a workload issue and time associated with painting a complex scheme.
Navy squadrons have been using copywrited images for years. Felix, Bill the Cat, Kenny from South Park, vader, etc for years. I'm not sure if they get special permission, have a special use clause in the law or just rely on being the military to use them. I'd hope whatever it was hasn't changed. If indeed it was Disney saying "no" I hope the squadron makes a big stink to the press.

For most hard core modelers the decal options should not make much of a difference. Most folks on this website are aware of aftermarket decal options and will seek them if necessary. If the kit is quality the hard core modeler will buy it, regardless of the decals (although quality decals of a lesser done subject would be a bonus.) On the other hand, a more causal modeler will usually just build what's in the box and buy based on box art. So from a manufacturer's point of view, why limit your appeal to a narrow audience that will probably not base their decision on decal options?
FWIW, I hate the Yankees too, but I understand their broad appeal to casual fans. The anology was spot on.

I'm not "worked up". And I didn't originate the quote "Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it" either.
It's a sad statement on our educational system if you ask me. People can't even do simple math, they have no idea how our system of government works, and they have no understanding of the history of how we got to be who we are. Very sad.
Preaching to the choir, but what are you going to do? Our society values entertainment and athletics more than knowledge and rational thought. Nerds weren't cool until people needed them to fix their /iPhone or network their computer. It's not right and I have no answer on how to fix it.

1. Does it really matter? The majority of people are ignorant about alot of history (Leno never had to work to hard to find them on his "jay walking" segment), why get worked up about something you can't change
2. Our service men and women (past and present ) defend the rights our founding fathers fought for, so I hardly see it as dishonoring the revolution by celebrating the military on the 4th.
3. I'd be more upset by the current fascination of the American public and media with the "royals" that we fought to get rid of. Who gives a rats behind about "the royal baby" or the "royal wedding" blab balb blab. When it comes to royals the French got that one right!

I'd invite anyone who is *that* impatient to start their own model company and see how fast they can get a superb, high quality kit out the door. It's not as easy as you think.
No one's claiming it is. The point is "under promise and over deliver". The model industry is full of companies doing the opposite so modelers have a right to be skeptical of pre-pre-announcements. I'm all about generating excitement for a new product, but wait until you have something to show. Schedules slip, delays happen, so why box yourself in by making premature announcements?

I prefer PayPal for the convenience, but understand why some sellers don't like it. As a compromise I will sometimes offer to send money as "gift" or friends/family to avoid fees. This doesn't offer buyer protection, but if it is a trusted seller I don't mind. 99% of sellers here a honest people. I've done a fair amount of trading and buying here and never really gotten burned (other than by usps losing a book and crushing some decals :( )

Edit. Two more trades found. Thanks guys!

Big update with more trade wants and more trade bait!

Didn't they used to say Blue Angels on the wings?
How can you tell he difference between a B and D in that photo?
ECM bumps behind the cockpit is the biggest give away. D's have them, B's dont.

The best I've ever done with "best offer" is knocking $5 off the buy it now price. I think it is just designed to draw more attention to the listing by making people think they have a chance to barter. The seller is hoping you will make offers thinking you have control, but really they aren't willing to budge much. Sort of like the guy at the flea market that marks his crap way above actual retail value and then says "make me an offer".

Hi Tim
No emails from you in spam either. Please try sending me a PM. Sorry for the problems

You know, if you try really really hard, you may actually find people that don't understand how we, a bunch of mostly grown men, could find joy in buying an expensive plastic toy that isn't even put together, and spend hours upon hours and tons of money to put it together and paint it using hours upon hours of research to find the exact shape and color of items on the toy. And then when we are done, we don't even play with it or let anyone else play with it. I would imagine there are those out there that totally don't understand that. But we know what we like about it and that's all that matters. I don't watch WW whatever...but I understand a LOT of people do. If you really think about it, probably a lot more people than those that build models. To them, we are nuts...and they are right. Just sayin'....
Bill
+1. I don't get it, but my wife doesn't get modeling. There are a bunch of hobbies out there I find boring as hell, but people spend millions of dollars and hours doing every year. To each their own. As long as it isn't harming anyone else, who cares?

Tim did u get my email? I send it a few days ago?

They equipped them with K36 ejection seats. Amazing!

I'm looking to round out my collection of 1/48 hasegawa hornets. (Yes Nick, I admit it's a collection, but I do intent to build them all someday). I'm not too picky on condition as long as the kit is complete and the decals intact. Sealed kits prefer but not necessary.
Here's what I'm looking for:
Teir 1 (easier to find, one for one trades):
1/48 hasegawa Golden Dragon CAG bird 07067
https://www.scalemates.com/kits/953229-hasegawa-07067-f-a-18c-golden-dragons-cag-bird
1/48 hasegawa CF-188 D-day anniversary PT102 " https://www.scalemates.com/kits/177922-hasegawa-pt102-cf-188a-hornet
1/48 hasegawa F-18C Atsugi 25th Anniversary
1/48 hasegawa F-18C Marine Corps 09359
https://www.scalemates.com/kits/241294-hasegawa-09359-f-a-18c-marine-corps#stash
What I have to offer:
1/48 hasegawa F-14a "independence"
1/48 hasegawa F-14a bombcat diamondbacks (no kit decals but includes weapons sprues and white metal bombracks)
1/48 hasegawa TA-4J
1/48 hasegawa a-4e/f
1/48 kinetic EA-6B
1/48 hasegawa F-2A idolmaster (yellow plastic but otherwise a good kit)
1/48 AFV F-5F
1/48 eduard MiG-21 SMT weekend
Teir 2 (harder to find, will consider trades 2 for 1 Teir 1 kits or one to one of the following)
1/48 hasegawa F-18C Chippy Ho 1995-1997 51686
https://www.scalemates.com/kits/950373-hasegawa-51686-f-18c-hornet-chippy-ho-1995-1997
Would trade 1 to 1 for:
1/48 kitty hawk F-35C
1/48 eduard MiG-21MF ProfiPack
1/48 afterburner F-15 aggressor
1/48 afterburner decals F-16 aggressor
1/48 kinetic E-2c
1/48 hasegawa F-18A NASA (contains M sprue with upgraded antenna and only known injection molded ARS pod)
1/48 Revell B-1B
1/48 Skunk models USS Nimitz Carrier deck with JBD and catipult
I'd also pay cash via PayPal but prefer trades.

Lot 23 F/A-18Es are hardly the *best of the fleet*, compared to what they are fielding right now...
But when compared to An A+ or a C?
-
Whitey, not doubting your gouge, but wouldn't switching BA to supers go against the long standing Navy policy of saving the best for the front line fleet? Or are there enough supers beginning to approach their trap limits?
-
Yes, it is the Italeri kit rebox.
-
Makes one wonder about F-35B/C in the near future.
Paint rollers on a $100 million+ stealth jet at sea?
-Gregg
Don't worry, it won't be necessary, the JSF will never break...
-
Hobby search has the F for a July release. It's the white boxing. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10043410
And for only $39. Better buy 3!

I've been out of the aircraft simulator gaming side of things for a while and would like to know what's out there in iterms of a good PC based sim I could try. It needs to be a game I can just use my keyboard to play as I don't own a joystick .
Any feedback will be really appreciated.
Rob
Define good? Are you looking for realistic, good graphics, easy game play?, ww1, ww2, modern? Carrier based, dog fighting, mud moving? Lots of options based on what you like.
I also would strongly suggest a joystick. To me it would be like painting a model without an airbrush. It's possible, just makes getting the correct results much harder.
NEW F-18's coming

If nothing else it will drive down the price of the hasegawa kits. If not retail, then on the second hand market.
