I'm not sure what part of the plane you're referring to, you mean the leading edges(chines)?
As for reference I use only photos of the plane.
Not the chines, the actual wingstips. the curve that starts at the tips and runs around to the outer leading edge. the only swoopy pert on the wings. here is a pic showing.
-
I just got to thinking, what reference will/did you use on modeling the curve of the blackbird wingtips? I've noticed that some models show them with some curve and some show them flat with no curve at all.

Holy catfish crap! Do you have a website????
-
Good info Ken. that privacy curtain and the overall height would have had me doubtful If I had come across that pic. I think your conclusion is most logical to me.
-
Wow! ok,who will be the first to offer that in 72d scale? :D Anyway great pictures, and thanx for sharing.

Great Pics Kotey!!
When you say "portable toilet", was that referring to the service truck? somehow It led me to think there were pictures of the area behind the seats.

One more thing Can you guys confirm the "SOO-34" pronunciation over the "ESS YOU 34"? Im getting beat up constantly on this point. One troll even left me a link where a Russian commentator surprisingly actually used the "ESS YOU" pronouncement. up until then I had thought that it was probably a pronouncement of "ESS-YOU" in the west.

WOW! KOTEY I think Im in LOVE with you!

I already have all the pics from the scalemodels.ru site... beggars cant be choosers, Ill be happy with any new shots you have Ken gear related or not. I forgot that you regularly attend MAKS. remind me to kick myself in the back of the head.

Im hoping to get some help from Ken, Berkut, and all the flankerphiles here. does anyone know the source of these drawings for the fullback? and secondly, Im hoping for a few Hi res photos of the su-34 gear especially the inboard side

It says at the bottom of the web page......
Note :- The Su-27IB (prototype of the Su-34) originally used the taller, Su-27UB fin, but the production Su-34 reverted to the shorter fin from the Su-27 single-seater.
Ken
OOps!! ok I see it. Thanx Ken,
-
FWIW, I have created a guide to all the varying shapes of fins as fitted to the Su-27 Flanker and its derivatives.
It can be found here
If anyone has any additions/amendments, please let me know.
Hope it helps......
Ken
Which fins are used by the Su-34?

Will the final model be molded with the separate wings? or like the f-22 kits with wings attached to fuselage?

Trumpeter takes on the raptor at 32 scale...........hopefully they have learned something from the shape and surface detail issues of the smaller raptors that came before. being Trumpeter, I'm expecting a spare engine and maintenance stand. I suppose this will definitely be in the 200 dollar range?
-
Nice! but where the heck would you display it? http://phunkworks.com/AIRCRAFT/Raptor%20systems_.html
Has anyone heard of any 32 scale raptors coming? resin even? anyone? 72 an 48 scale offerings are very nice and detailed, whats the hold on 32?

Did you know...that the best fighter aircraft we have ever owned in our AF is the P-51D! Yes...our airforce is pathetic...we had the best AF in Asia...until the end of the Vietnam War. The only two fighter jets that we own RIGHT NOW are two F-5B's...and they are now decommissioned. We were initially supposed to purchase the retired F/A-18C's of the USN...but due to budget cuts...I'd rather not mention it for the sake of my country...Oh well, at least our new president might do something about it (literally the inauguration of our new president tomorrow).
The Philippine Air Force- "A Lot of Air...No Force"
Jason
Hey Jason, I was just at the static display at Clark ab yesterday and was shocked to see how far even the f-5 had fallen into disrepair. It would really be nice if the new president can turn some issues around. but politicians in all countries seem to have something in common..... that politician odor! :(

This promises to be an unbelievable model!! Im watching with huge interest.
Btw... I wonder how well Chikatilo is known outside of Russia and Ukraine? He was a big believer in the saying "If you are going to do something, do it very well"

Mr Blue,
It's called AH-64 Apache Walk Around #52. You can get it directly from Squadron Mail Order;

Here are some FYI.
MiG-31 from Elisovo(the only Naval Squadron opereates MiG-31)
As far as I know, there's no formal uniforms for Russian maintenance crew.
I used Preiser's 1/72 NATO crew with some modification to convert into Russian ones.
Here's the thread:

This helps alot. just what i was looking for. And Killer Dio by the way!
Many Thanx!

Has anyone ever seen any pictures of these?

I think the question was... How long must we wait for a 32 scale f-22?, not what would you like to see modeled in 32 scale. Im thinking that the Academy 48th scale was done so well, that research wouldnt be the issue. more likely the market price point for such a model in this scale.
How much farther beyond the common 200$ price point would this market bear?
-
OK, dumb question - if the F-16 is aerodynamically unstable, and thus required FBW in the real thing, how'd they pull it off in RC? Is FBW technology available for RC now or something?
This is a common misconception. It isnt always the shape that makes these aircraft unstable, Its the balance. the closer the center of balance is to the center of gravity, the less stable and therefore more maneuverable the craft potentially is. Conversely, the farther away the cp is from the cg, the more stable the craft is but with a maneuver penalty.
There arent many shapes that cant be made to fly with proper balancing. computers are needed when a certain level of Instability is required. this instability isnt required on rc models.

Thanx fellas! that answers all my questions.

I too have wondered about this gap, and what went wrong. In looking at the bay, everything seems in order at first.
For me it is only when you add the 6 ICS boxes on the left side that the problem becomes obvious.
Im wondering if the problem is possibly undersize boxes? I have taken pictures of the real boxes inside and outside of the bay and individually, they seem to be not far off in size, so Im thinking that the bay gap difference is defined by the ICS array fitment and could possibly be addressed with resized scratch built boxes maybe?
This alteration shouldn't be too diff to accomplish. what do you guys think?
