I have now finished the paint, clearcoated the plane, and now I am applying the decals. I was so worried that these old decals would fall apart once they hit the water but they are still in very good shape. The even have taken a little decal set to make them sit nicely. You can sure see the difference between these
old decals from the 70s and the decals we get today in kits.
Still lots of decals to apply and lots of work to finish.

Thanks for the link.
That was very cool.

This was a great idea for a GB.
I am having as much fun with this kit as I did 35 years ago. I have painted the P-47 and now I just can't wait until it dries and I can remove the masking.

Very nicely done.

Sorry to hear about this Roy.
Having gone through a divorce myself, I can tell you that it is an extremely stressfull and difficult time. I would suggest that you take things slow and focus on your health first. Lawyers can help, but they are there to make money. Lots of money.
Be selfish and focus on your health and your own well being. Accept the support of your family and friends. They can help you get and stay in a positve mindset.
I really wish you all the best Roy.

Today I managed to get some good workbench time in.
I masked the canopy and sprayed it interior green along with the landing gear bays. Masked the landing gear bays
and primered the entire plane. Did a little sanding here and there to clean up the various joints. I began working
on the wheels and tires, prop, and the cowel painting the red stripe.

Wow, that is shocking video.
I bet the guy driving that car had to clean out his pants after that.
Thanks for sharing.

I sadly ran into a snag with the P-40 when I tried to use EZ-Mask to do the camouflage. I am having a very difficult time removing the mask from the model. I haven't given up and will come back to the P-40 later.
My P-47 finally came in the mail this week. It is a re-issue from the 1970s. I noticed right away that the parts were much cleaner then the P-40 kit. I wonder if this is because the P-47 was molded when the molds were relatively new compared to the P-40 which is a recent re-release.
I have been making some good progress on the P-47 building it OOB. I just loved this kit when I was younger and it has been a real trip down memory lane.
Here are some shots.
More to come. Thanks for looking.

Love that battleship!
I was given the task of picking our my own models for Christmas.
Academy F-4
Academy F-14
I can't wait to crack into these once things settle down a little.

My mom grew up in Nova Scotia. Her family had lobster on Christmas Eve as a tradition. We have carried on that tradition ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Along the way my dad added steak to the dinner.
This is one tradition I just love.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Thanks for sharing the link.
Another great reminder of the sacrific made by many giving us our freedom.
A true hero.
Merry Christmas.

I only put one coat on so I'll try layering it. Makes sense.
I like the idea of painters tape as well.
Thanks very much!

I decided to give EZ-mask a try to hopefully create a nice neat camouflage pattern.
It is easy enought to brush it on, but now I can't get it off.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Very nice car!

Still waiting for the P-47 to arrive in the mail so I thought I would start in on another model that I remember building as a kid.
This is the Revell P-40 Tiger Shark. It will be build OOB using the kit decals.
Thanks for looking.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were lost today.

Great shots of a beautiful aircraft. Those shots from the bomb bay really drive home what it would have been like to be a crew member. Imagine looking out of there as you are flying over Germany with all the flak coming up at you.
Must have been a great experience!

Hi all,
I remember building this kit on my own back in the late 70s. It was the first kit that I recall doing a decent paint job on. I remember staring at it while the paint dried as excited as a kid could be.
Anyway, I just ordered one from ebay and will begin building it when it arrives.

That is a boat laod of money for sure!
After helping family and friends I would travel to Europe to see all of the historic sites from the wars.
I would then build the most incredible model building workshop.
Plenty of room for stash storage.
Perfect lighting.
A room designed specifically for spraying paint.
Dust free environment for building.
And the biggest workbench one can imagine so I can spread out all of the unfinished builds I have on the go.
To dream is marvelous.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
I had this happen to me last spring. The kid knocked my display case over while playing with the xBox kinect.
100% loss. So I just started again.

Beautiful model of a beautiful Lancaster.
I have wanted to build one of these since I first saw VeRA in Hamilton many years ago. I was so pleased to see it at the Abbotsford airshow.
Great job!
