  1. Taking a break from the interior and cockpit led me to start detailing the turbine instead. Still needs to be painted, but I'm happy with it. :)
  2. Maybe, just perhaps, the government is withholding some information? No, that can't be. What good could possibly come out of keeping people confused and unfocused?...
  3. suppose a website would help... http://s1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa351/Neile_Harson/
  4. So I've uploaded some new pics of the external gun mounts and some of the pilot footwell area, anyone care to give me feedback please?
  5. So work is progressing slowly on the 'Hawk, finishing fabbing the roof and exposed internal structures, but I'm having some problems finding a really good pic of the overhead wiring and equipment. I found some nice closeups, but there is little reference as to which way is which in the photo. Does anyone have a wiring schematic or drawings / sketches of the routing of the wires and cable through the structure, something like that? Not sure if there are classified information issues, but a scan of a maintenance manual would be perfect. I'm trying to balance accuracy with my actual skill level,
  6. Hey, so I've built one of the external gun mounts (building the ammo can tonight), can someone give some feedback please? I'll be keeping photos of the build of my 'Hawk here: http://s1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa351/Neile_Harson/
  7. Anybody know where I would be able to find a nice pair of 19-shot 2.75in rocket pods and a quad Hellfire setup in 1/35 scale? I'm having no luck without the obvious course of buying yet another model for a few parts. Finalized the armament setup for the ESSS on my project 'hawk: Outboard pylons (left and right) will be rocket pods, quad Hellfires on the left inboard pylon, M230 30mm chain gun on the right inboard pylon. The Hawk is also being modified to include an MH-60L nose setup, internal auxillary fuel tanks and the Block 152 upgrades (improved CC / FE chairs, external ammo cans feeding
  8. One magazine, vertical divider with two boosters, non-return feed system, 2500 rounds total at ~600rpm gives a little over two minutes of sustained 30mm cover. The M230 assembled is 131lbs, plus about sixty for the mount and feed, at ~200lbs per cannon it would stress the airframe about as much as aFFAR pod, so why not?
  9. Is it doable to feed both 30mm from the same magazine, dropping the total ammo weight down to DAP levels? I think I've seem pics off the M134s fed from the same mag... Just shooting for optimum plausability. It's not that I have anything against the FFAR pods, i just really like the look off the chain guns.
  10. So it was said earlier in this post that the reason Hawks don't carry dual tanks and M230s is the airframe can't handle it. Is this because of where they are mounted, not what is mounted? My thoughts are, if the heavier parts (fuel tanks) are mounted inboard on the ESSS, the inertia moment would be reduced. Of course, this only matters if the pylons are the weak link. Thoughts?
  11. Ok, then I'm just gonna chalk it up to artistic license. May not be accurate, but it will be an undeniable beast.
  12. Well, my plan was to install the APQ-174 MMR, AAQ-16 FLIR and assorted antennae from the MH-60K nose, but the ESSS from the MH-60L/UH-60Q DUSTOFF. I might be mistaken here, but I figured if my 'Hawk were using the GE T-700-GE-701C engines from the UH-60L (1940 shp), it would have enough power to lift two full ETs and the armament I listed...however I'm not an arcft tech. Side note, wouldn't a major PMC like Xe (formerly Blackwater) have the funds for a hybrid like the one I want to build? Last I heard, the unit cost was in the vicinity of $13 mil for a standard UH-60. Wouldn't they have clear
  13. So I recently picked up an Academy 1:35 MH-60G Pave Hawk and want to build it up into a hybrid of an MH-60K and an MH-60L DAP (ESSS long wings, dual fixed forward M134s, dual M230s, full Nightstalkers nose, internal axillary tanks, etc.) for private military use. Question is, where can I find certain parts, such as the external tanks and hopefully the ESSS wings (prefer not to scratchbuild them). I love the look of Philip Limbert's MH-60G Pave Hawk, but my kit lacks the wings and tanks. Really don't want to buy another kit for them since my wife would be quite irritate if she found out what I
