I'll do this backwards:
Cons
Soapy plastic-kinda funky to work with.
Sink marks and ejector pin marks abound
Cowl doesn't fit over engine if installed
Pros
Plenty of detail
Said to be the most accurate Spitfire out there in 1/48
It's a nice little challenge if you're up for it. I'll build more.
Ken
Ken is correct except that sink marks and ejector pin marks have improved in later issues. The latest kits in the white boxes are the best of the series. I have a few of the later Spits and they look really good.

Yikes! It's Tims triple header!!
The completed Meteor looks really good Tim. I hope I can come close to that.
-
DarylH , it looks good BUT what are SINK MARKS...
Depressions in the plastic from the moulding process. Both inlet cowls had numerous depressions that had to be filled.
-
Just started a couple days ago.
This is my very first Matchbox kit so let's see what I've gotten myself into
It seems to be a story of gaps and sink marks. The gap between the back of the cockpit cover and the fuselage took a .020" shim to fill.
The engine inlets were plagued with sink marks.
But I've pushed through to reach this point.
The canopy has been futured and masked, the fuel tanks are ready for paint and the fuselage is now with child.....
I now take a day off for the IPMS/Cinci annual picnic but monday should see me back at the bench.
-
I had intended on doing a quick build of a Matchbox Meteor as a warm up but it seems that there may not be such a thing as a Matchbox quick build
So I'm in for two kits, first the Meteor N.F. and then the Handley Page Heyford.
And away we go............

Duplicate post :P

They look very good......but I thought the Trump C-47 was the "wonder kit" that didn't need a lot of help.
Looks like Andy does some very nice work and I hope he'll sell some cowlings but I'll just be happy with my old Monogram Gooney bird

I'll add in a Special Hobby 1/72 IMAM Ro 57 Italian Fighter kit # SH72082
-
The closet is starting to bulge. I will pull something from the 1/72 pile for redistribution to a worthy ARC'er
-
I will attempt the Handley-Page Heyford. (or the Humbley Pudge Heiffer if you will)
There's a Matchbox Meteor on the bench to warm up with. It's not meant for this build but I'll throw in a Meatbox pic when I start my Heyford project.

For the past 25 years I've been using this thing. It's the pilot's seat from a United Airlines DC-6, bolted to an old office chair frame. I was living in a small town in Colorado back in the early 80s, and a house a few blocks away had the entire cockpit section attached to a wall. Somebody bought the house, and didn't want the cockpit. I wish I could have saved the whole thing, but at least the scrappman was willing to sell me the seat..for two dollars. I found the wheeled base in a dumpster. The duct tape is a recent addition, as the original leather was getting pretty worn (it wasn't in very good shape when I got it.) I recently did a bit of research, and was disappointed to find that cockpit section was probably just a simulator, and my chair was never part of a flying aircraft. It really is comfy, though!
SN
Yep, that must be from a simulator. I had a lot of cockpit time in DC-6s and they didn't look like that. But it is good to see that you can strap in when the building gets rough
This is a timely post for me as the old office chair from Staples is giving up. I'm someyimes forced to take breaks when my little buddy jumps in my lap and wants to be rocked like a baby.

Wow some very strong opinions here on this topic. I got a, dare I say, Trumpeter 1/32 Mustang D kit today. Got it for $39 bucks, paid another $12 for a set of decals with some nice nude girlies for nose art. I can't wait to build this kit and put it in a prominent place in my rec room. I am also a model railroader, have a nice sized bedroom layout. I don't do everything on the railroad exactly prototypical, and take a little artistic license sometimes. I have met many other model railroaders who would fault anything that I have that doesn't have the exact number of panels, rivets, grabirons etc. Or that my time period is a little off for some equipment. But you know what, I enjoy it just the way I have it, wouldn't do it any other way. If you enjoy what you are doing and are proud of the results, then who is to say that your kit is not worth anything or is a POS.
I can't wait to see what this baby with the nude girls is going to look like..........
You've just described YOUR hobby. The plastic model hobby is a different hobby for everyone. They're all plastic kits but whether you are gluing fuselage halves, hull halves, engine block halves or turret halves together it's what's going on in your head that makes it your hobby.
Enjoy your P-51!

Ordered P-40 decals a couple months ago and had great service. I haven't used them yet but they look very good.

The Revell of Germany blue box. I bought it in '05 It actually says B/G on the box It is the 1/48 kit
A simple typo perhaps? I'm going up to the closet of joy to see what's on my RoG box

Good stuff Doug........order sent!

If the act of building a model is the fun that you want then all kits are "good"
If you want the finished kit to depict a real aircraft then the Dragon P-51 does fall into the turd category.
When I saw the results of Dragon's efforts I went and picked up some resin for my old Monogram kit. It's easier for me to go that way :)

Good looking P-51 and a great story too

Is there a revised list with all the confirmed sold kits indicated?

There is traditionally a registration packet that has in the past included lapel pins, decal sheets, sample magazines, discount coupons, pre-printed name tags and promotional literature. I have no idea what this years hosts have in store but I have pre-registered even though I do not plan to enter the contest.
I hope the club is on top of things and puts on a good show but I think they're lack of on line registration may be a bad sign.
