  1. I am trying to help some friends restore a Skyraider (1/1 scale) to its Vietnam state. They need markings for the SUU-14 CBU dispensers and the SUU-11 "mini-gun" pod. If someone has the Zoukei-Mura 1/32nd weapons kit, could they possibly send me a scan of the markings for those two items and the associated part of the instructions?

    Thanks in advance,

Only USAF, Navy/Marine Corps did not use them

  2. The kit is still causing troubles for me. Bow is awful. I fixed problem with the bulb only from the 3rd attempt (grey colour). I made the hole in the hull for anchor, also i made some other holes which are seen on the real ship.

Also i lined fore and bottom part of ship where i found the seam from molds.

Place bonding of details of the hangar deck weren't on the one level(i noticed it during the first view)

Also i made hole in the hangar deck under elevator.

  3. Review:

Google translate gives, for the final part:

    findings

On the one hand, the model E-150 is an interesting and most importantly, at the moment is no alternative: it is unlikely in the foreseeable future, some other manufacturers have paid their attention to this experimental Soviet interceptor. Because if someone wants to put the model E-150 on the shelf, there is simply no choice. On the other hand, after a series of Su-17 with a neat thin cut and well shed small things, on the model of I-3U and E-150 is already looking like a step back in terms of quality study models, and in terms of quality casting too. Of course, much better than the early A-model or YUMTK, but do not forget that the XXI century, after all, in the yard, because it is no longer figure.

But what a happy hunting ground for manufacturers aftemarketa - cabin and lantern, landing gear, air inlet, nozzle, hatches and antennas ... However, I do not know how to be profitable to produce as much aftemarketa model edition of just 500 pieces.

Model no doubt find a buyer. Especially, the price corresponds to that of the I-3U. But the modeler will have to

work hard to bring it to an acceptable condition. So rasp in his hands and a lot of patience.

E-150 is development of mig21 line and has similar engine mig25. I think that you should pay attention to this fact. Take cockpit and canopy form mig21 and inner part of nozzle from mig25. There are much insufficient information about it, so you will not make big mistake.

  4. I'm looking for fotos of the cut on which moves rear end of canopy. My fotos don't allow to understand this element. I know, that there must be a cable in that place. it is questionable, because there can be cut in that place.

May be someone have good fotos of this unit?

  5. Conclusions

Here i can't criticize anything, because i have approximative schemes and drawings and i can't control their precision. I can take the decision only after full assemby of the model. The mistakes can exist, but all details have simple shape and not require difficult modifications. Traditionally screw does not look like itself, it represents "somerhing with wings". Complex helical shape of the blade propeller? Pfff... But Hasegawa performed it. And i can't replace these scerwes. G-Factor on the trumpeter's "Essex-class" has some problems with geometry:

  6. Are you on any of the ship model sites? Might be interesting to have comparative builds-in-progress but I wonder if that would be better on a ship site?

I have Ticonderoga also, a better choice for a comparative build.

Greetings comrade. I am not registered on the site, which is dedicated to a ship models. It would be nice if you advise me such web-stie where i can get help. Also i'll be glad to perform comparative build-in-progress of Ticonderoga with you. i think it will be nice experience. but i must warn that i will not begin modelling of this kit not earlier than next year.

I find the other kits need work too, including "the usual"---things like radar antennas and netting. Liaoning has the forward flight deck netting molded in solid (like usual radar antennas). I assume Kuznetsov also--the instructions show what to do to modify to Liaoning (example: shave off the AK-630s).

Admiral Kuznetsov isn't included in my model shortlist. I have munimum information about it.

    Continue examining plastic.

  7. Interesting info. Thanks for sharing!

    Have you seen Trumpeter's Essex/Ticonderoga or Kuznetsov/Liaoning?

I'm curious how this kit compares with them.

Both seem an odd mix of good detail, even with small features, combined with "What were they thinking" cheapness.

I hope other replies stay focused on Intrepid but comparison would help for those of us with the other kits and still saying "ouch" at the price of this one.

Can you describe what may account for Intrepid costing so much more?

    Rich

Thank you. I am glad that the information is useful for you. I don't have all these kits, but their images in the network give adequate representation to make proper conclusions. Unfortunately the increase of price does not correspond to the work which was done by the manufecturer. Trumpeter did a better job at a lower price. The lack of detail of hangar deck, mistakes in the elements of the flight deck and other parts (i'll explain later, when the materials will be ready). Also I would like to notice that there are few aircrafts and and air equipment in the box. It limits modeler's posibilities to perform some original scale compositions. For example if you want to build the model as it shown on the boxart you will not perform it without special modofications. The number of mistakes upset me. I think that this kit has bad ratio price/quality

  8. Attention. Hereinafter will be presented materials which are available in internet. My goal is not to get any benefit, using these materials. My goal is to tell my colleagues about the differences between this plastic kit and real ship. I can't trace all Copyright Infringements. If you have found any infringements please contact with me.

    Conclusions:

1 It's very good, that manufacturer imitated hangar plates and their fasteners. It's dificult to calculate theit measurements, but their performance is nice.

2 Joint of the plates of the deck isn't realized properly. In my opinion it would be better if they performed connection of theese plates in overlap. It's not to dificult to correct this mistake, but i think that manufacturer should perform this element properly, because kit is exepensive and it means, that modelers may place high demands to it.

3 There aren't cutout for the elevator. Without "surgery" you can perform elevator only in upper position: flight deck in this place was wooden

    2af412122d20t.jpg9045eea3aaaat.jpg

If you want to perform the elevator in the lower position. Then you have to cut panel lines independently. Also you will have to apply the decal of the warning coloration. In intermediate position you will have to make a special window and add some details. You can close these windows and then you may not add anything.

    That's all.

  9. So, I begin working with the b-47 kit. I chose the board RB-47H 53-4302 from the 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing. 55ер SRW of them were used (not regularly) in different operations over the territory of South and Noth Vietnam in the early stages. I didn't find any data where it is said that these spy planes based in Vietnam. Although in some sources I read, that some of them were on the Ben Hoa base (missions with Hercules and drones). However I didn't find any fotos with such modifications, only with scout weather modification (maybe these aircrafts participated in missions with DC-130 and drone).

    9989.jpg

So. First of all I expanded the fuselage height (Hasegawa's model has problems with geometry).I reduced sweepback angle and corrected the place of installation of external engine.

    ad4517fcdb74t.jpg

Cut it using draw and glued.

Unfortunately I didn't assembled it with complete accuracy and in some places you can see that geometry is wrong.

Now I need to make a set of templates in order to fix these problems.

That's all, thаnk you for attention

  10. If you build the VF-1 of the first years of service, then pay attention to the external differences of the first copies:

    1. grille cooling gun

    2. detection systems sweat radar

    3. compartment between the nozzles.

    4. at the beginning of the service aircraft did not carry fuel tanks, but the pylon was.

There is VF-1 of the early series on foto. Possibly foto was done during the first USS Interprise's cruise.
