A reference to the J79 engines I imagine...
Yup, but I hadn't heard the Phantom called "Smokey Joe" as the reviewer does. It was always easier to spot the smoke than the airplane -- just follow the trail 'till you see the white helmet ... and then pick up airplane. Camo helmets made it harder.

Thanks, BoeingDriver, VERY well done ... assuming that's your video.
(I subscribed to your channel).

P.S. The video quality is really good, but I had some trouble understanding because of audio echo. And "Smokey Joe"?

I am going to have to get me a couple of these me thinks.
Definitely, Jay.
Great talk going on over at BM, including excellent kit reviews and in depth real Fury info. .There you'll also find lot of great links to Tailspin Turtle's (aka Tommy Thomason) Fury motherload.

As a professional writer, pilot, and Phantom enthusiast, I'd be happy to preview and edit their product descriptions.
Maybe you could also proof the instructions.
(the kit parts are good)

(lest I'm misunderstood, I really admire ZMs attention to detail, including in their instructions)

Why would the aftermarket design intakes for the Academy Phantoms and list a specific variant then?
Usually it's because of the differences in the engine face attached to the end of the intakes.

I have today tried to use the cockpit decals...and somehow to my eye they look strange ... . The decals do not look nice and they do not settle down well over the very nice 3D details. ... For the price asked for the kit they could have thrown it [PE] in...along with seat belts! :-(
Hopefully you'll find something good about the kit .

There is no differentiation of the inner an outer plates, and some small details impossible to explain.
Now there's a teaser.

Weren't you a Phantom driver?
Yes, flew the C,D, E and Slatted E (and ferried an RF). Great airplane ... way back when!

Standard forums are drying up because it's much easier to post news and photos on FB.
Thanks for the words, Bob, in particular about the FB groups. Sad if in fact ARC, BM, HS, LSP, Z-5, etc are "drying up" since I really enjoy the folks on those forums. The format of forums seem to be much more organized and easier to follow than the FB links I've visited ... but then, my FB experience is extremely limited.
At any rate, I spend way too much time as it is on the computer, so a FB account is not in my future.

The new Italeri RF-4E is based on the ESCI molds, with new tool fwd fuselage and burner cans (They actually go into the fuselage!), and a choice of noses. It also has cameras included...
Thanks for that info - makes the kit worth a second look. Have you seen sprue shots, and if so, can you provide the lin(s), please? So the question would be: does the nose fit any other 1/48 kit ... like perhaps Academy?

Have you guys not kept up with the facebook updates and picture releases on weapons?
"Some" of us don't do Facebook ... maybe more than you realize as concerns the [more mature] modelling community.

That's really too bad for me since your communications are the reason I'm interested in and buy AMK. I agree totally with Red Dog as concerns the silent rational majority.

Steel Beach has a B/C conversion for the Hasegawa E/F kit. Once the HB kit comes out, I'll see how it fits and make any necessary adjustments.
Any further thoughts, Darren?
