I'd be happy to preview and edit their [ZM] product descriptions. It would just cost them a kit per job. :naughty:

    Me too!!

Along those same lines (but seriously), I was bemused and amused at last year's IPMS Nationals watching a couple of brash modellers obsequiously fawning The Old Man trying to get free kits in return for "reviews". He graciously took their names.

The ZM "crew" and their displays at IPMS shows are always a highlight for me!

GOOD GRIEF!! Someone at ZM/Volks should really (!) ask an English speaking person
who has some knowledge of airplanes to proof product descriptions ... .
For example, on the page linked above (that has the descriptions of the differences between a  C and J&S models)
there are errors such as: calling the Air Refueling
Receptacle an "Oil Receptacle"; the location pointed to for "Cartridge
Starter" is not even close to where it should be; etc; etc; etc.

Makes an absolutely thoroughly  researched product appear not so.

Late types (block numbers after 20) were mostly used by USAF and ANG units ... .

From the paint guide, looks like GWH  may have included chaff dispensers!! Would be even nicer if they also included the centerline baggage pod radar reflector since the late birds were used extensively as targets for interceptors.

Has anyone heard of future AMK plans for more models in the Mirage series? I sure hope it is so!!!

Guess no one knows of AMK's plans regarding producing more of the Mirage line. Added to that, I haven't heard anything more about Kinetic's exploration into a 1/72 Mirage line (other than Raymond fishing a long time ago), and I've not seen any progress on the Modelvit Mirage IIIE. Further, Special Hobby hasn't said anything about following up their excellent F.1, as far as I know.

    So ...

since other current  Mirage kits have "features" I don't like, such as the over-riveted R.V. kits or the expensive deep-trench High Planes kits (yes, new new remastered kits are coming, and I have a couple on order), I'm looking at possibly using the AMK Kfir as the basis for backdating it first to a Mirage IIIE; and then to a Mirage IIIC. Major conversion items would include removing the canards, wing leading edge  extensions, vertical fin intake, and bottom rear fuselage fuel tank. Replacement items would include nose, fin leading edge extension, strake, tail piece/engine can ... and a myriad of detail items. Fortunately I have plenty of extra parts from  R.V. and High Planes kits .

I will do all that since, as we all know, that would result in AMK. Kinetic, Modelsvit, and Special Hobby all coming out with new 1/72 Mirages!!!!

But it sure would be easier if AMK did all that for me.

The color does look very much like a deep, dark purplish tone. Next time you're shopping look at an eggplant, it does resemble it.

I thought maybe "egg plant paint" was a new formulation using egg plants as a base.

...  don't you know there is always something wrong with everything!!!

Well, yes ... but I honestly didn't know there was a problem with the 1/72 Hasegawa noses, so I'm really curious as to what it is!!

... ,disagreeing with a group of people about the quality of a kit is very much NOT being a Troll.

Well, Rex, using irrational in-your-face language as he did ("here's a giant crappy mistake that you can see plain as day on the outside.") certainly is trolling for retorts.

I wonder really how in the age of digital measuring and with tons of real planes around and good models to look at such a major flaw on the fuselage could happen.

So Uwe, what kind of digital measuring did you do, and which ton of real  planes and good models did you  look at?

OK, OK, I'm just pulling your chain ... it's just that I have trouble "detecting this major flaw" as you call it.

  9. The Su-27 may be a bit too ambitious for a first aircraft model, considering the large number of parts (i have no idea of what "Gunpla" is or how it relates to modeling). Again not 5th generation (but then, is the Su-27?), but you may want to look into recent Academy 1/72 kits like the F-16 and F-18 (and then the F-4). These kits are very accurate and detailed, and the fit is excellent, having many "press-fit" parts,

They would be fine mules to become familiar with what may be new materials and techniques, and you'd have a great looking  model ...  as well as a frustration free experience.

Illustrator has a steep learning curve, but once you learn how to use it, there's pretty much nothing you can't do.

yes, but Inkscape was a little easier for me ... and it's free:thumbsup:.  There are many good video tutorials available on line.

I guess the tight fit tolerances mean that the parts will suck right into place once a little glue is applied.

A little sanding of the front of the windscreen yielded a great fit with no step. Overall, my trial fit tape job was very enjoyable, with no problems.
