  1. After the fear of doing two weddings and being constantly worried that something might go wrong (fortunately nothing did), I have solemnly resolved never to do one again.

I have never down weddings and probably never will for exactly this reasons. The constant fear of doing something wrong would kill me. Furthermore I mostly stay away from taking shots of people; i just dont have the eye for any god shots or postures.

  2. Beside jets I shoot mostly industrial buildings at night. Leads sometimes to some "nice" small talk with the security guys, or freezing solid but sometimes you can get great pics

Aside from that you can find me beside some football fields. Definitly the ultamte test for any camera and lense shooting at flood lighted stadiums. Anyone giving away a an 70-200 2.8 IS for free

sometimes I go for trains. The only chance on taking pics of fast moving stuff here aside from jets.

  3. I heard that soaking the stuff in a 50:50 mixture of glycerine und ethanol and leaving it to dry keeps the color and kills any stuff that might be living in your future diorama vegetation.

Another trick might be hairspray might conserve the stuff, but leaves it very brittle

never tried it myself, I usually use the woodland scenics stuff avaiable from any model railroad store Walthers e.g.

  4. The -72 is a great life-flight type helicopter, but if it starts gettin shot at, I just don't see it performing the mission.

Which reminds me of the question, are the AH-6 and the OH-58 armoured? They are about the same class as the UH72, and I never heard of them being armored and they are still used in "hot" areas

  5. Interesting news, and thanks for the review. I notice there aren't any FS numbers or colors like Dark Ghost Gray, Light Ghost Gray, gunship gray, etc. But they do have RAL numbers as mentioned, I'm not too sure what those are, is this the German or European Union "federal standard"? What aircraft or subjects use these RAL standards?

Some of the brown or rust colors in that Revell Aqua Color page look like they might be interesting to me, as I'd like to see how closely they match the space shuttle's external tank. And I'd like to see how the gloss and flat base match up to Future or Polly Scale Flat (which I use), as well as how easy or hard the gloss colors (esp. white) might be to airbrush. When will they start showing up in American hobby shops (the brick n' mortar ones, thank you very much)??

    Justin

RAL is the german equivalent for federal standart. litterally speakings RAL stands for "Reichsausschuß für Lieferbedingungen" (something like "Committee of the German Reich for Terms and Conditions of Sale"). Dates back to somewhere 1925. Its used the same way like the FS system. Dont know any examples were FS colours are used outside the military, but RAL also applies also to the "civillian" paint system

    more on this http://www.ral.de/institut/en/index.html

Revells Aqua Color range has some FS colours iir, but they got no RAL or FS number, they are just named by the german translation of the english name.

  6. Italeri 1/72 scale up

    Trumpeter/Hobby Boss 1/32 scale down

    Which one will be better?

the 72 Italeri is split up differently around the engine nacelles, but the rest looks awefully familiar to one who has build 5 of them.

Regarding the scaled down Trumpeter version, I hope they correct all the big mistakes Trumpeter did on that one

ok, mofo beat me to it

  7. From what I heard the "Printed in Italy" sheets are easy to use while the "Printed in Germany" sheets can be difficult to work with.

I never had problems dealing with their decals so far
